The day I'm screwed by the app

in Reflections9 days ago

After several years of avoiding paying the Netflix subscription, I succumbed to the pressure, had a short-term (partial) enjoyment of some series, and then a fiasco and a complete debacle.
As they say "I'm screwed" by Netflix, twice.

Until a few months ago, I didn't want to pay for Netflix because I didn't want to make myself addicted to too many series and movies, and I didn't want to waste my time on "binging", which is very common with online series.
And when, so that we could watch the new season of the series "Bridgeton", I paid a subscription, I discovered that Netlix, in addition to having many quality series and movies, does not have a translation into Croatian (I did not expect it to have a translation into Serbian), so the number of series and movies I could watch (without having to listen and translate live from English) is very limited.

That's when I realized that Netflix had screwed me, the first time.

The other day, a message appeared on my screen that as of 11/11/2024, my TV will no longer be supported for viewing the Netflix app on it.
I go into the TV setup and update the software to the latest version.
And I hope that solved the problem...
Yesterday I run the app on the TV everything works as it should...
I thought the update solved the problem.
However, in the evening, when it was 2 pm in America, the application sent me the following message

Netflix is really screwing me now. Twice.
Completely.

I'm furious, but what can I do...

I have a TV that still works perfectly, the screen diagonal is right for me, I had no intention of changing it, nor will I change it as long as it works...
And Netflix?
I need Netflix, at least until I watch some of the series I found interesting, as well as the ones I started watching, that have subtitles in a language I can read.
And where will I watch them?
I will watch them either on my mobile phone or I will turn on my laptop, as I used to watch them (when I downloaded them from torrents or when I received them from friends on discs or USB memories).

And when I've watched everything that interested me, I'll give up the subscription (I'll screw Netflix like Netflix screwed me), at least until the moment this TV fails and I buy a new one.

Have you ever been tricked by an app, asking for an update that your device couldn't support, or causing you to pay a subscription to use a service?

Sort:

Not really. We don't have a TV though, we watch Netflix on laptops.

Me too, now 😀
