RE: The helping hand

in Reflectionslast year

Hi Galen, I will be brief this time. I usually help people and, of course, it's a habit learned in my family. Only two conditions have to be met: that it is asked for, I don't like to help if I am not asked, and that I am able to do it at that moment. A hug

I like that people feel comfortable enough with me to ask for help, it shows they value me and our relationship, so I understand the ask thing you mention.

Do you get a nice feeling yourself knowing you've helped others?

I didn't answer the second part of what you asked; yes, it makes me feel good to be able to help someone, even when the person you are helping may be ungrateful. I understand that someone may not be grateful for help when they don't ask for it; but if you ask for it, the least you can do is to be grateful for that help. But as I tell you, even in these situations I feel good.

I get a little annoyed when people are ungrateful for help rendered but I try to remember that I've already received the reward that comes from helping and also make a mental note that that person can fuck off next time they ask me for help. 🤔

I thought I was the only one who did it.
