The future of Hive? Clueless. Do you know the answers?

No idea how this post will evolve. This morning in my car, I was thinking about crypto in general and of course also about Hive.
When thinking about Hive, several questions came to mind:

  • What does Hive need, to grow as never seen before?
  • What is the unique selling point of Hive?
  • Will Hive ever can replace the regular social media?
  • What's the future of Hive?
  • How does a new user see Hive?
    • Does this user see potential?
    • What will keep the new users here?

Asking these questions is easy, answering them is another cup of tea! And to be honest, I am mostly clueless. Of course we do know that when the bulls will enter the market, the value of Hive will increase. No doubt about that.

We also know that Hive is more than just a blogging platform where one can create a blog easily and earn some money with it.
We also have games running on Hive, casinos and shitload of Hive derived tokens.
We can claim that we also have a community.

I also understand that for new users it has become harder to grow compared to the days when I did enter the Hive community. Back in those days, the curators only got a 20% share of the post, nowadays this is 50%. So when you wrote a great/good post or did get the support of some bigger accounts, your HP could skyrocket. While with the 50/50 split, one can say that more people are curating, I do think that it is harder for a new member to get foot on the ground.

Also, why would they join Hive and not things like Medium, Facebook, Twitter or others? Mostly with the last 2, lot's of their friends are already on board, which makes it easier to feel part of the community.
We have to be honest there are only 2 reasons for new users to stay. On one side it is being part of a community, on the side it is just Money/Hive/Hive Power.

I do think that Hive has a great track record and did grow immense from just being a blogging platform, but I have no clue what the future will have in mind for Hive.

Feel free to see if you can answers the questions above and let's have a discussion!

Cheers,
Peter

For me Hive is a welcoming ecosystem which made me feel like home (if I can call it that) and supported me with my growth. I've discovered communities where I feel cozy and when I found people with much knowledge and which were willing to share it. Some of my best investments came from the information from here and also I see the opportunity of starting a project here quite easy, with a lot of support and users willing also to invest. I see now Hive as a great platform for a startup endeavor.

I can relate to most of this. Besides the communities. I tried to create an own sports betting community, but there wasn't a lot of interest. I did learn that a community can only succeed when one of the two things below are checked:

  • There is enough of interest
  • There is a whale supporting the community, handing out upvotes. Which is for most communities the fuel they do need.

I think there are clear differences between Hive and classic social media.
Of course, the reward system is tempting and many approach it above all for that but, if you learn to know the ecosystem in depth, you can only remain fascinated and anchored by it.

there are so many things you can do on Hive, I think learning how to exploit them all is very important.
Naturally those who have a passion for writing and reading like me there is a small advantage, the stimuli are not given only by the rewards but also and above all by the contents and their value.

Correct. Just like I do appreciate a comment more than an upvote. If I only would get upvotes and no comment, the interest in Hive would disappear.

I completely agree!
I also prefer to receive lots of comments and interactions under my posts 😉

I don't think Hive is even close to being relatable to social media. It is something different entirely. That's my opinion anyway. That being said I have some high hopes for Hive. I think it has the potential to become something great.

Guess we all have that hope. I am just trying to figure out on what this hope is based on.

I just keep plugging along. Every now and then I think what if this all goes to zero. Then I shake it off and I just keep going.

I believe we are already in a bull market... And in regard to its future, I see it more as a society rather than just a tokenized blogging platform.

Guess most of us came for the money but do stay for the community.

I kind of stayed for both tbh...
