It's a new week folks, another opportunity to put your lives on hold for a little bit - swap your real life for your working life grinding away for paper (called money) that the government extorts from you by way of taxes, excise and duties and corporations drain from you through increased product and service prices and shrinkflation.

Hmm...that doesn't sound very inspirational right?

I suppose that, and other such thoughts, come to mind on Monday morning and in truth it's pretty much the case, but a small shift in mindset can help turn it from negative to positive.

I don't like having to go to work but front up each day seeking to be the best version of myself, to carry out my role professionally, with diligence and care and to ensure that I deserve what I'm paid. I apply effort and ownership, discipline and responsibility towards my tasks and always come away happy that I've done so. It gives me self-respect, has furthered my career (and raised my incomes) and leaves me feeling that the fact I've swapped out my life to be there has some personal value other than the financial.

Happy Monday folks; be your best version knowing you'll find greater self-respect at the end of the week looking back.

You put me in mind of Longfellow's Psalm of Life:

Let us, then, be up and doing,

With a heart for any fate;

Still achieving, still pursuing

Learn to labor and to wait.

Something I wrote reminded you of an HW Longfellow poem...I'll take that! ✅

Now, I'm here on Monday morning (at work) trying to remember what I wrote about in this post. Bring on Friday! 🙄

Happy Monday, mate!

I hope this week will be better than the last. The next weekend is getting closer, a good thought to start the week: always give your best in whatever you do

I'll make it better, or try to, so that at the end of the week I can look back and say I did my best.

Have a good week yourself.

Lol, yeah I hope to make every day a weekend I'm the not too distant future.

Ooof. Yeah... I know you work and are worth your time... but that opening paragraph. 😅

Ah well... let's get Monday going. You're already done with yours... its 6:13AM here, just starting mine.

Yeah, I wanted to grab people's attention he ce th opening paragraph.

Almost done with (what was a pretty good) Monday and looking forward to getting home and living some life. Have a good one yourself.

Cheers man. I have another hour or so to go till I can go home and live some life too. lol

Thank you so much @galenkp, happy Monday!!!

Happy end of the weekend to you too... Monday's coming for ya!

It is already Monday and it stopped raining here. Greetings

Respect and perseverance are good allies for good learning.

I totally agree, well said.

Here's to a great Monday and a great week, thank you Galen!

Mine is over, thankfully. ☺️

Mine is coming to the halfway point!

Monday for some people comes as burden who do not want to move out of comfort zone of sunday while others see it as opportunity to revive energies and bounce back to rock

Indeed, for sure.

Respect and perseverance are good allies for good learning.

Absolutely, I agree.

Yeah there’s always two sides to the perspective! One could say that to wake up every day is to stir your body, one step closer to death and one more breath towards your last. Some real dark shit! Or we could appreciate every breath and approach as many situations as possible with the right attitude to do our best, just like you do for work.

I worked with some people who hated what they did and it was unfortunate because that’s a pretty sad existence. They will complain but also won’t make moves to change their circumstances. They will just go home and drink and watch TV instead of get books or something to learn and make changes. People are fickle things that’s for sure!

Happy Monday!

Complaining rarely serves much purpose but most people don't at some stage.

I think it's ok to have a bad day or week and want to vent about it, we all do that too, but continually turning up to a job one hates...well, change jobs right?

It's a great idea and would work great on me I feel like, to be as good as I want to look back on myself during the week.

You seem to me to be quite a motivated person. Am I right?

Well, on paper yeah, in reality I'm quite lazy with following the principals I set for myself.
It's quite easy to make myself look better in text than I really am, so I do it often unconsciously, but I still strive towards becoming closer and closer to what I would want to be.

Also I'm very good at looking at myself in the 3rd person and through that trying to act accordingly to how I would want someone who I would look up to, to act.
This doesn't make me a super human though, I still make mistakes and end up thinking back like "Why, oh why did I act like that back in there".
It's harder, even borderline impossible for me to see myself in the 3rd person while writing

It sounds to me like you're well on the right track, and a lot farther down it than many others.

Thanks 😊

Sometimes feel like school is my version of 'working life'grinding through assignments and exams. But I get what you're saying about showing up and giving your best. Even when it feels draining, it helps build discipline and self-respect, which will probably matter even more down the road.

Operating at less than our best effects others, but more importantly effects ourselves. It's best to be one's best (or try to be.)

Thanks for the pick me up! I'm dragging quite a bit today. It was a late night with my great niece trying to get her to fall asleep. She wasn't having any of it!

A couple glasses of whisky would have done the job. 😂
