It's incredible what people see in artwork and how each person has the ability to see the same artwork in different ways, have different feelings, emotions and reactions to the very same thing. I think you're on the right track in making your own judgement on artwork, you do you, and let others be them.
We all see the world, and other people, differently so it makes sense to see artwork in this way. Although I believe people's individuality is being diminished a lot through marketing and social media.
