To be honest it's just a push for you to grow up. As a 46 year old man, I can relate when my parents told me about my plan. They had given me a good education and support both emotionally and financially and it was time to find my path.
Maybe your support is really needed, maybe it is not, but taking some responsibility in the family is something late teenagers should work toward. If they don't do it at 16-18 they will have a harder time at 20-22, because it might come all at once. Either because you got married, or moved out to school or just decided it was time to live on your own.
The goal is not to throw you on a mental crisis, but to start developing those problem solving ideas you learn at school. From finances, to research to selling your ideas for a job or an income.
Yeah! That. My mom started with me when I was as young as 9. It’s gotten a bit easier to deal but… hehe, it’s still hard sometimes
Wow that's a little early but yeah, judgement goes with that the parent consider fit for the kid. Eventually you'll be on that situation with yours and will tolerate a different age range or not.
