Mortality and Life: In The Tick Of Time.

in Reflections10 days ago (edited)

Lately, I've been constantly reminded of the transience of life. News of deaths and losses have been flooding my feeds and ears, leaving me with a mix of emotions.

Not quite long, in my college alumni WhatsApp group, one of our members shared a heart-wrenching update:

OH! DEATH WHY? JUST LOST MY MOTHER IN-LAW TO THE COLD HANDS OF DEATH IN MY HOUSE THIS MORNING, WHILE MY MOTHER IS STILL IN THE MORTUARY. AM FEELING PAIN.

As I read the message, a sharp pain pierced my heart. His words expressed the raw emotion and anguish that accompanies the loss of a loved one. I couldn't hold back the tears that were already welling up in my eyes. One phrase stood out to me:

I'm feeling pain.

Those four words captured the overwhelming grief he's experiencing having lost his mother-in-law while mourning the loss of his own mother, whose burial is scheduled for next month, April. Losing one loved one is devastating, but facing a double blow can be almost unbearable. Not many people would be able to handle it.

We all reached out to him, commiserating and sending our heartfelt condolences via calls and messages. As per our custom, members residing within his location were requested to pay him a condolence visit, on behalf of the group, same way we observed when we received the news of his mother's passing. Even as he needs moral support at this trying time, financial support is also paramount. So we're already raising funds to support him with his mother's funeral expenses. That's the least we can do to show our support and care for him at this difficult time.

While we were still trying to get over the news of the passing of our member's mother in-law, another news of death reached us. This time around it was our president's brother. What a misfortune. It was indeed a sad news, and it got everyone shaken up. I felt deeply sorry for his loss, and equally joined other members to commiserate with him.

It's been a somber period for me. These events are a poignant reminder that life is frail, and that death is an inevitable part of life. And no one knows when the final chime of their own clock will sound. It's a harsh reality we all must face.

Therefore, it's important for us to constantly strive to live in the present, to cherish every beautiful life and equally make the most of every moment we have with friends and loved ones.

Even in grief, there's comfort in community. Having friends rally around each other, offering support and condolences, can be a beacon of hope.

Following this, my heart goes out to you, to everyone passing through a trying time, grieving the loss of a loved one, or facing pain and hardship. I commiserate with you. My deepest wish is for you to find the strength, courage, and resilience to bear the loss and pull through.

Death is of course inevitable in life but our prayer is that we should fulfil our destiny and live long before going to meet our creator.

Exactly, we only hope to leave this world happy to have fulfilled our purpose.
Thanks for coming around and sharing your thoughts.
Best regards
