Life is a combat of pain.

Good Afternoon, Everyone.

Have you ever experienced physical pain from an injury? Or the emotional pain of a broken heart? Both hurt, but one lingers far longer than the other. Have you ever been in a situation that made you question the Creator? If any of these thoughts have ever crossed your mind, keep reading. Through these short stories, I hope to share insights that may offer some clarity. I am simply a storyteller, using words to express my imagination and creativities.

In my town, electricity is a constant struggle. Despite paying for it, power is only supplied at random times, leaving us at the mercy of those in control. But that’s not today’s issue. My story begins when I found myself in a frustrating yet common situation my phone battery was down to 10%, and I had just a little airtime left.

With no electricity at home, I called a friend to see if she had power. Unfortunately, she didn’t either, but her generator was on. She invited me over to charge my phone.

When I arrived, she was outside with some friends, peeling coconuts. After greeting them, I went inside to plug in my phone. Seeing that I had experience peeling coconuts, my friend asked me to lend a hand. I agreed without hesitation.

As they worked, I learned that they were preparing garri mixed with milk, chocolate, groundnuts, and chilled water. It was a simple yet satisfying meal—one that I considered a perfect breakfast.

I got to work, peeling coconut after coconut. After finishing five, I accidentally cut my fingernail. My friends expressed concern, feeling sorry for me, but honestly, the pain was minimal. It was a small injury, nothing to dwell on.

Once everything was ready, we enjoyed our meal together. Before I left, my friend handed me a Hollandia yogurt as a small token, joking that it was for my injury. It was a kind gesture that I appreciated.

This small incident made me reflect on something deeper the difference between physical pain and emotional pain. A minor injury like mine heals quickly, but heartbreak leaves scars that take much longer to fade.

I once had a friend who experienced a devastating heartbreak. After his loved one left him, he lost all appetite, barely eating for days. Yet, when he had a physical injury, he still cooked for himself and ate well. That was when I realized how much more damaging emotional pain can be.

Many people question why bad things happen to them, especially when they lose loved ones or face hardships. Some even blame God for their suffering. But the truth is, not everything that happens to us is God's doing. My injury that day wasn’t divine intervention it was simply a result of peeling coconuts carelessly. If I had been more careful, I wouldn’t have hurt myself.

We need to recognize when to take responsibility for our actions and when to turn to God for guidance. And more importantly, we must learn how to heal whether from injuries or heartbreaks by finding the right support, allowing time to work its magic, and taking care of ourselves in the best way possible.

Thanks for having me in this community as it my first time engaging, I appreciate all those who took their time to fo through my work.
