It was a very busy night, people had all arrived at the popular market square where they will be meeting up with friends, families and others who will have one or more things to do to spice up the Christmas night celebration. I was with my father in our new family car together with my mom and siblings. My dad has actually mastered so much about his new car and so far he was doing just fine. He is the one driving us. Though he has passed his driving tests, he always seems scared of being followed by big vehicles or when he sees any articulated lorry coming from his front from the opposite direction to pass him. These were my observations but at one point, it was as though my imaginations were just playing tricks on me because the rest of the family didn't seem to notice what I've observed.
Our journey was a smooth one while going, my dad was able to carry us across the few potholes on the road in the most comfortable way that could earn him some awards. On our way coming back around a place called Sahara was when danger raised its ugly head. Part of the things I observed about my dad while driving is that he most often avoids busy roads at the early stage of his driving and this time we had just driven. Through the less busy road and have gotten to the junction where we will be entering a more busy road that leads to the highways through which interstate travel could be made possible. Just as we got to the junction our vehicle slowed down a bit and almost stopped to a halt.
None of us freaked out because we knew it was normal for any driver to apply brakes at each junction before continuing their journey but just as we were about to look sideways to satisfy our eyes by making sure no vehicle was near enough even though my dad was on the lookout as well. Our vehicle started moving into the busy road while there was a vehicle very close to us about to speed across at very close range. It did pass but we immediately entered the middle of the road heading straight across the road like a road block. I looked at my dad and I saw how he was jeering his legs and landing repeatedly almost in milliseconds, just then I knew we were in trouble.
I may have been the first person to notice the struggle until my dad said “Hey!” with a raised tone while still struggling with his legs and his hands going from the steering wheel to the gear selector all at the same time. My mom was the first to shout which made my heart beat triple the amount it beats per second. Everyone was in a serious state of fear as our car picked up some more speed and ran across the busy road miraculously without being hit from the side by another vehicle including the many trucks passing by. The only thing that stopped it was when it hit the barricade on the extreme end across the road.
Road signs were immediately deployed and put in the right places to notify coming vehicles of what is up ahead to avoid anything that would lead to more serious damage. Our vehicle was later brought back home the same night with the help of an automobile mechanic. It was later we discovered that the steering of the vehicle was stiff at the time of the brake failure. Though it was late at night when the vehicle arrived home, we remained forever grateful to God for sparing our lives and lives of those moving along the road because none of them were hurt. After this occurrence, the vehicle had another issue and then another issue and in fact it to the extent that everyone got tired of the vehicle. It was as though each time it would take out there'll be one trouble.
The last one that happened before a final decision was made concerning it was that the vehicle caught fire from under. He had to fight off the fire by whatever thing was available until we quenched the fire. The vehicle has now been sold to one who can handle it and it's no other one but a man who is a skilled auto mechanic and a driver. I'm sure the vehicle must have gotten back to its senses now if vehicles do have one but it must really be a good ride now.
