GIFT OF LIFE AND GOOD HEALTH: Walk with me on this Journey.

in Reflections29 days ago

Today, during service, our pastor said the greatest thing to be grateful for is life and good health; he asked us to think about what we are most grateful for, and my thinking resonated with him. It made me reflect on this year so far. I have not been to the hospital for any treatment or diagnosis of any sickness. I have only taken drugs once this year, which was a month before last. I looked at my family members, and I am grateful because no lives have been lost.

I went to the hospital earlier this year, and I cried when I left ( I get so emotional when I visit the hospital). 😩 I first visited a father whose wife died after putting him to bed, and the baby was placed in an incubator. Normally, people are not allowed into the incubator unit; I stood outside and stared at the child who would grow up without knowing who her mother was. I shed tears as I watched how a child was fed through a tube, and I thought about how the father would raise a child without the mother.

Picture taken when I came back from visiting the hospital.

I also visited a friend who was attacked by a cultist and was roughly beaten; he was taken to the hospital because part of his body was cut and he was bleeding. When I visited him, I saw a person whose leg was cut off- you can imagine the pain; I couldn't hold myself longer when I ran outside, and on my way, I overheard a father begging for his daughter to be put on oxygen promising to complete the money later that day.

One time, I heard how a stray bullet killed an innocent man, leaving the criminals running away.😭

Thinking and reflecting on this, I am grateful for life and good health. I don't take it for granted because it is an opportunity many don't get to have.

What are you grateful for?🙏
