And so you know, I stumbled into your account after you had left a comment someplace else, which led me to this post and eventually everything else.
Downvotes exist here for loss prevention purposes mainly. Say you're running a business, and every time you open the cash register, money starts blowing out the door and into the street. As a business owner, you will do everything you can to prevent that from happening again. You invent a spring-loaded mechanism to pin the cash down so it can't blow away. Problem solved.
People on this platform do not want to see money blowing out the door, so at times they'll step in to prevent that from occurring.
People aren't even mad at you. They don't hate you. None of that. You're okay.
I can't do anything to stop you folks from arguing. I didn't come here to argue. I can see how it escalated again.

I can't say I agree with that series of downvotes. So much for progress!
This is why we have words. But we need to use our words efficiently and effectively. Keep in mind I'm not taking sides in this.
I don't think it's jealousy. And of course you're free to be cocky about it. Certainly doesn't offend me but it's also not helping the situation. Just an observation.
This entire episode started as a misunderstanding. Continues down that same path.
