There is nothing new under the sun
The first time I heard these words I wasn’t sure what it really meant. Did it mean that successful people stole the work of people who have been successful with a particular idea in the past? No that couldn’t be the case. Maybe it just meant that for you to be successful you can not be original.
After so many years, I would later find what that phrase really meant. In as much as it could be said that some success stories or successful ideas were built solely on other people's ideas one can make an idea better or enhance it further.
Quick short story
I stumbled on a design by one of the People I follow on Twitter. It was quite eye catching and nice. I immediately thought to myself I can create something similar to this with my picture for reference here is the picture I saw on Twitter.

Then I decided to quickly try out my skill on canva. I was able to come up with a very decent design which I showed to a few friends and they said it was really nice. Some even said it was nicer than the original. Here is mine for reference.
What do you think ? For me I am not one to copy or steal ideas from
People I’d rather create mine but in this situation I just wanted to simply create something similar or nearly as good as what I saw on Twitter. Was i wrong for this ? Or was I just being creative?
Do you agree with the phrase I mentioned earlier or do you think people just use that as an excuse to not be original.
A wise man once said to me if you are going to borrow an idea better enhance it and make it better so it looks original.
