RE: Pleasure delayer / Retardador de prazer [Eng-Pt]

It seems that we're very much alike, my friend. ☺️ I'm also really good at delayed gratification – which I believe to be the winning strategy in life in the long-term – but I'm also not-so-good at pampering myself and "allowing" myself to have nice things and experiences without delaying them or finding a "reasonable justification" for them (a birthday, an industry event, an invitation from somebody else). I think that in our age (mid-forties, that is) it's good to find a balance between these two priorities:

  • to stay future-oriented and keep investing in the "future self", delaying some momentary gratifications and building a security net for later years, while also

  • learning to say yes to opportunities to enjoy the moment or treating ourselves as we would treat a loved one: with a spontaneous holiday abroad, an exclusive spa treatment, a cool new game or a rare edition of a favourite book. Something that we would normally allow ourselves to get, but would happily accept as a present from others.

I don't know, does this thought make any sense to you? 😄

Hello, Oleg! Thank you, my friend for the time that you took to read my post. And thank you also for your reply. It makes absolutely all sense! You put in in clear words, and I see that we share some of this particularity :)
A very big hug
