That's kinda funny XD

I can also understand some people getting outraged having tried and generally failed at dealing with people with eating disorders and also knowing a lot of people who are nowhere near actually obese but are just big (very tall, large builds, gym rats, all of the above) and basically would only be considered obese by the stupid BMI which is so completely and utterly useless even as an "indicator" that I don't know why people still bother with it (I have absolute zero respect for that thing). The rest of the time I feel like people just like getting outraged

Were the tourists doing it because it was funny or were they the ones getting outraged?

Sort:

The daughter of my wife's friend is struggling with her eating now, even though she is very fit - she is in gymnastics, and is only 11. It is sad. And yeah, the BMI indicator is silly. It is only useful for a every general and broad understanding of a very large population - making it also useless :)

I think only the internet was outraged. Like normal.

That is really sad :< one of the things we've been required to do in the last couple of years is an "all body types are valid" online course to be able to renew our accreditations (and there's a canvas somewhere in the gym saying the same thing) and I think included in that course is stuff on trying to recognise and deal with potential eating disorders before they become problems and contact points if it's already a problem (mostly for head coaches/supervisors/that level, my part of the job is a nice easy report to head coach).

Bahahahhahahahaaa XD

Hmm yep checks out.
