Meditations on a Sunday in March.

Just some stream of consciousness today

Don’t forget to enjoy your senses.

The texture of yarn she used to make this hat for you. It took her 3 hours to crochet and she expects nothing in return. She enjoyed it. That’s what it means to do something out of love, to enjoy it, to expect nothing in return.

The smoke as it leaves your soup, the way hot and cold interact to produce such phenomena. The juicy tomatoes that grow in a farm a few hundred kilometers away. Their earth produces such gifts for us. The chili that stings your tongue, how odd that we find joy in pain mixed with pleasure.

These walls that keep me safe from cold, they’ve seen better days but continue to do their job. The way each object brings its own character to the room. Now an idea like Feng Shui feels abstract to us, but even just a few decades ago, people had fewer distractions from their senses, and some could hear their rooms telling them where things belonged.

So many mysteries make sense when we speed everything up or slow it all down.

Imagine a world without electricity.

The world is speeding up, not merely as a function of technology but because our worlds are bigger, more interconnected. The information we receive is so much broader and more detailed, and so our narratives are challenged by everything else in existence. They must earn their influence over us.

An idea must survive in a colosseum of ideas, with representatives from every corner of the world. Each of us has these colosseums in our mind. Some of us stack the odds against opponents of our favorite ideas. We rig the game in favor of the ideas that we know.

But our wonder still demands that the games be played. We can ignore some of what’s going on, but to ignore a singularity requires complete isolation.

I say let the games rage on, no cheating, and no need to fight to the death, just give me a brutally honest test of strength, let these different players bring out the best and worst in each other and let’s see what they are capable of.

Let’s see if hope can beat fear again today. If it can’t we must help train it before tomorrow’s game begins. Let’s see if the present moment can conquer the past and future. Let’s enjoy the sparks fly when individuality and collectivism put each other to the test in a million different ways.

Let’s see how all these different battles, these stimuli that test us, let’s see how they push us to grow. Don’t take any of it for granted. There is nothing to be angry about. We don’t need to rig the games, just enjoy them. To challenge our ideals is to give them a chance to grow and evolve. If there is something we believe in from the depths of our heart, it cannot be conquered. A loss today means a win tomorrow.

This is all just a flurry of light reflecting itself to create a beautiful kaleidoscope for us to enjoy. That’s all life really is.

So true man, life really is just a wild mix of moments, ideas, and senses all clashing and blending together. Makes me want to slow down and actually feel things more. Also, now I kinda want soup lol man

That was the goal today, to slow down and enjoy the little things…and somehow it led to a grand metaphor that I had to pull myself away from for now so I could continue to enjoy the little things.

Go get some soup!!!

what a productive Sunday man... You know what, I'm going to get the soup 🤣🤔🤔🤔🤣🤣🤣

I love the idea of letting ideas battle fairly instead of just holding on to what we already believe. The comparison to a colosseum of ideas is really powerful. It’s a reminder to stay open-minded and let thoughts evolve instead of fearing change.
