A good night's sleep is important for our health because it supports our brain and body's normal functions. A sleep also help us reduce stress and improve our mood. A sound sleep is good to maintain a healthy weight, lower our risk of chronic disease and help so improve our immune system.
Few days, ago I was staying back to one of my relatives home, but did not get a proper sleep. The boy was studying till late and the room light did not let me sleep properly. I always prefer to sleep in Darkness. I could not ask to put off the lights and unfortunately I was deprived of my sleep. I woke up with headache and tired body.

The sleep-wake cycle.
To get a proper and sound sleep, we must ensure to create a comfortable environment. I know like me many others to prefer to sleep in the dark. Beforr sleep, we alwsys make sure that our bedroom is dark and quiet, and our bed is comfortable and supportive. In my case, while I had a supportive bed, but the light in tge room spoiled my sleep. Darkness is important for sleep because it helps regulate the body's circadian rhythm and produces melatonin, a hormone that helps you fall asleep. This lead me to research on circadian rhythem.

Light and dark are cues that tell our body when to wake up or sleep. Exposure to light at night can disrupt our circadian rhythm, which can lead to metabolic and biochemical changes that may increase the risk of heart disease.
Why we need a sound sleep?
Sound sleep is important for a variety of reasons, including:
Sleep allows your brain to recharge and function properly, which helps you think clearly, concentrate, and process memories.
Sleep is important for mental health, and poor sleep can contribute to mental illness. Insomnia is linked to depression, and sleep deprivation can make it harder to benefit from treatment for mental health disorders.
Sleep helps your body restore itself and prepare for the next day. It can help you avoid weight gain, heart disease, and prolonging sickness.

Deep sleep is the most restorative phase of sleep, and it boosts your immune function, supports cardiac health, and controls stress and anxiety.
In absence of a proper sleep, we may face many health issue. This is what makes Darkness to play a key role in a sound sleep.
Role of Darkness :
Darkness is necessary for a sound sleep because it helps our body produce melatonin, a hormone that regulates our sleep- wake cycle. Darkness stimulates the pineal gland in our brain to produce melatonin, which helps us to feel sleepy and calm. Light exposure can block melatonin production, which can disrupt our sleep cycles and make our sleep more fragmented. Pitch darkness can reduce potential distractions and disruptions to our sleep.
Research suggests that exposure to light while sleeping may increase the risk of obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure in older adults. Not getting enough sleep can increase the risk of chronic health problems, and can worsen symptoms of depression, seizures, high blood pressure, and migraines. Disrupting our sleep-wake cycle can affect our pancreas' ability to secrete insulin, which controls blood sugar. This can increase the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes and insulin resistance.
This is what makes Darkness an important factor for a sleep. To enjoy tye sleep, make sure to avoid any light intrusion.

I actually just got diagnosed with sleep apnea. They have me on a machine now where it gives me continuous air to keep me breathing. It's been an interesting experience. I don't think my quality of sleep has been better, but I think it takes a bit to get used to it.
This witch definitely needs to sleep more and more deeply as she hasn't been doing so lately! Thank you!
