I'm not sure for what reason exactly but I'm not always looking forward to going to sleep lol unless my body is really really tired. That said, I still go to sleep at around the same time every night with roughly the same duration (6 to 7 hours) so as to keep the routine in check. For me, spirals happen when there's some huge interruption with my schedule and I find it hard to easily get back on track, then I might just play video games for hours or visit other rabbit holes on topics I'm interested in.
Yeah I know what you mean about not wanting to sleep. There's a lot going on so spending less time sleeping feels like a good idea. We function the best, especially as men, with 8 hours of sleep for our testosterone production.
