After a little hiccup of booking the wrong parking hall by about 10 kilometers (that is waste of €70), we ended up booking again (another r €50), and then running to the boat to make check-in.
And here we are.
Cruising. Well, they are called ferries here, as they just go between Finland and Sweden, or Finland and Estonia. We are off to Stockholm, but will only be on lad there for a few hours before boarding again for the trip back.
Totally worth it.
I am not sure if this kind of thing happens in other countries, but it is popular here still, and kids love the couple nights on the boat, doing something different. It is a relatively cheap getaway holiday too, which is also why it is popular for families, and those looking to get blotto. I have often seen blotto parents, and their kids wandering around after midnight.
Classy.
For us though, it is tine away together without having to worry about all the other things in life for a few days. That is welcome.
And rather than wandering around Stockholm tomorrow, we will head to an Astrid Lindgren park close by. I will have the camera for that, because what grown man doesn't love Pippi Longstockings!
I am sure everyone is awaiting the photos.
Well, I do have a thing for the braids. Though perhaps more in the Tomb Raider style.
The cabin we have is cattle-class of the kind Leonardo DiCaprio would have had on the Titanic, though I don't think my wife is keen on heading down to the car hold a d reenacting the infamous had on the fogged glass scene.
It has four beds in it, bunk style and I a bit sure if Smallsteps can sleep up top, as she has the tendency to fall out of bed in hotels and it is a long way down.
These boats are always a bit tacky in decor, like a cheap casino. The kinds of places filled with coloured neon lights that in the daytime look sad, like an empty strip joint.
So I hear.
There will be a kids disco soon and then a night show. While never brilliant, I don't mind the shows as I am so rarely anywhere that had live music these days, or really anywhere after 9pm at night.
As sad, my connection is going to be spotty, at least from past experience. It might take me tine to get back to comments, abd it night bit be in a few hours even. I am sure you'll survive a few days of this :)
I can already see the connection flicking from 5g to 4g - first world problems.
Right, time for dinner!
And a show.
Of some sort.

Seems you are totally having fun at the holiday with your family. I suppose it is an exciting experience for Smallsteps. Sorry for the €70 lost booking the wrong parking hall. I plan to take more holidays myself in the near future as holidays have a refreshing effect on the mind and overall health.
That is very cool! I hope you have a good time! I have been on ferries before, but never one like that. It's almost like a cruise ship. Full cabin and everything!
These are moments to be enjoyed, and better with the family. I think that the extra expenses are not a loss, they are an investment, and just seeing Smallsteps's little face, her sparkling eyes and a smile of satisfaction, are well worth it.
Have a good time, you don't need to get drunk and do a show apart from the ones planned by the crew. I like Pippi Longstockings too.
We use them when crossing from Asian side to European or viceversa in Istanbul. It is max 30 mins, min 5 mins depending on distance in the Bosphorus.
When I was in Tallinn the other year, I wanted to take a ferry over to Helsinki, I've never been before and thought it would be a fun thing to do. Sadly we didn't have enough time. I'd like to do it sometime. Have fun in Stockholm.
oh yea! 😉👊
I look forward to riding the ferry in philippines.
Looks cool, like a mini-cruise :) Plus you get to visit Stockholm even for just a few hours... We have ferries here, but they only take about 40 minutes to travel between the islands in the Puget Sound. And they look like this one that we crossed passes with on our way to Whidbey Island:

Enjoy your mini vacation!
Yeah, the one place defitnely looks like a strip joint. The beds remind me of the coffin racks we would have on the Navy ships, but less space between them. I do hope you enjoy your time with the fam. No worries about responding to comments, you got bigger and better things to spend time doing.
