RE: The Bottomless Calm

Has Duolingo helped you learn much? I have never tried it.

it's not like the streak is as important as the actual process.

This is how I see it, but it has also become (weirdly) part of the process, because of the brain hack for habit - I am a monkey!

Telling someone to remember that there's worse people out there is a pathetic reason to excuse awful behaviour.

See! An asymmetry! I only killed seven people, the Nazis were much worse! :D

The insidious up/down cycles are otherwise relatable.

Yep. We all go through them, but it feels like that line from the Lion King with Zazu talking about Scar - "There's one in every family, two in mine" :)

The languages I'm learning are slowly becoming easier to read/understand so it is helpful. Not sure how I would go in a conversation because I don't do the speaking exercises (I have this weird woo woo thing where I apparently glitch out Windows boxes, voice recognition systems, AI apparently, and most automatic doors, it's been that way pretty much forever) and also I can barely hold a conversation in English as is (that's partly the audio processing shenanigans and mostly my lack of wit). I am also progressing extremely slowly by choice (I don't spend nearly enough time learning/studying because I'm doing everything else).

LoL! Aren't we all XD It's not weird that it's part of the process, a lot of things utilise streaks as part of habit forming because it's extremely easy gamification.

LESS BAD IS STILL BAD XD
