Friday Reflections and Weekend Hustle

Weekends are mostly dedicated to working in my garden. After attending our principal's retirement event yesterday, I had to return home and plan my schedule for the coming week. If not for the retirement party, I wouldn’t have been at school on Friday since it’s my day off. Fridays are usually my days to rest and unwind after the long-term stress of work. I got home later than usual yesterday, and the reason is not far-fetched — it was because of the retirement celebration. I was happy to witness our principal’s last day in office. One can only hope to witness such a milestone in their own life, provided we don’t venture into another business or enterprise beforehand.

Today has been quite eventful. I woke up with a slight ache, but I didn’t let it hold me back. I had to get things done. The first task was sweeping and cleaning the goat house and the hen house. I also washed the rabbit cage, temporarily moving the rabbits to another enclosure to keep them dry. Afterwards, I had to source food for the goats, hens, and rabbits. I made sure to gather enough food to last them a week while I’m away at work. Thankfully, I have someone at home who looks after them in my absence. Once I was done gathering food, I took a short rest and had something to eat before returning to work in the garden.

I decided to clear the weeds around the goat house, hen house, and rabbit enclosure to ensure proper ventilation and maintain good hygiene. After that, I started watering the plants in the garden. The orange tree was the first to be watered, followed by the palm tree.

However, I’ve had ongoing issues with the goats. Whenever they escape into the garden, they eat up the plantations and other crops we’ve planted. I’m even considering selling them or, alternatively, constructing a new and more secure house for them.
