Finally, the long-overdue audit that should have been conducted last year was completed today. The initial schedule for the audit was set for December last year, right around the festive period, specifically on the 23rd of December. That day, I left home as early as 4:30 a.m. to ensure I arrived at the venue on time, as one can never predict what might happen on the road. I factored in time for potential traffic and minor accidents, though I certainly wasn’t expecting our vehicle to be involved in one. However, we encountered heavy traffic along the way.
Upon arriving at the venue, I found a massive crowd already waiting for the audit. The situation was so chaotic that there was no form of control whatsoever. How did they expect to attend to 3,000 people in a single day without proper organization? It was so poorly managed that many staff members were unable to complete their audit. The most frustrating and heartbreaking part was that some of the staff buses transporting employees were involved in a fatal accident, claiming the lives of several staff members and leaving many others severely injured.
Following that tragic incident, the audit was cancelled, and no further communication was made about it—until we recently received news of the rescheduled audit.
Today marked the final day of the audit. In life, no matter what happens to someone, life goes on. Those who lost their lives in last year’s incident have already been forgotten. That’s just how life is; people rarely dwell on the past for long. This is why, in whatever we do, we must avoid untimely death because, if it happens, life simply continues without anyone making much reference to it.
Life itself is unpredictable. A person can go to bed at night and never wake up. That could be the end, even without any prior illness. Sometimes, we simply hear that someone slept and never woke up.
To ensure I met my audit schedule and completed the process on time, I decided to leave home early once again. Interestingly, along the way, there was another fatal accident involving two trucks. No cars could pass through that lane, forcing us to stick to a single lane, which significantly slowed down the journey. However, when we finally arrived at the venue, we found everything well-organized. The entire process was so efficient that I didn’t even spend more than two hours before I was attended to. I felt so happy and relieved; it was incomparable to the experience from the previous attempt.
After completing the audit, we embarked on our journey back home, which took approximately five hours.
It's must be a relief that the audit is finally over! You also made a poignant reminder of life's unpredictability. As you reflect on the fragility of life, I it's sad that everyone didn't make due to poor management . It's a sobering thought that our lives can change in an instant, but thankfully, youe made it through the incident. Until the next audit, I guess
Yes, it is over, and I'm grateful for the fact that there isn't any casualty this time around.
