I awoke today, to a cloud filled sky. Which was a very welcome sight. Its still been way too dry, in this part of the world. So I was very happy, when later in the morning, one of my girls told me it had begun to rain. I was inside cooking porridge when she told me. So of course I had to go outside and take in all in for myself.
My senses overjoyed with the smell of damp earth, of wet trees. The sound of the rain falling so magnificently around me, on me. What a blessing! And the air tasted so fresh. I stood my bare feet on the wet earth, feeling ot rejoice beneath my feet. This how the wintets should be.
Everything looked more alive. The green with so much more depth. Sometimes, it takes a break in the weather for you to reconnect. To bring your focus back. To feel so grateful for what I have right now. What I have been providing for my girls. The fact, that they are all in fact happy, grounded and amazing to boot.
That they are safe. In a world where too many children live in very unsafe environments, my girls are blessed. All their needs are being Mey, the most important ones. It's been good for me to remember that. To stop being so hard on myself.
So the rain has come, softening and strengthening everything. Replenishing. Nurturing and yet with the power to also destroy. But here, it is so welcome. Welcome and needed.
Helping me to refocus. To look in a different way. Take in more of what surrounds me. The beautiful colours that the eucalyptus takes on, as it gets wetter. The earthy tones, that come alive. The energy feels different, when I put my hands on them. The bark smoother too.
Finally they get to be filled. These beautiful elders all around us, that give most of the time. Especially in drier climates. The rain is a blessing. A cleansing. For me too. The perfect ending and beginning of something new.
All photos were taken today, by me. So, they're mine.
I am not a big fan of rain, but I like your perspective. Rain is indeed a blessing.
Some places here share a different opinion. The ground is soaked for a months now, dikes are having a hard time, several areas flooded. We have to rethink about the way we live with water. Personally I like the rain, as long as it falls during the night.
