The country that had a similar important impact on me is Costa Rica, where I lived and traveled, on and off, for 10 years. I even ended up marrying a Costa Rican woman, so even when we went to live in the States, we still made trips back to Costa Rica once every year or two, staying for 1-3 months at a time. Costa Rica was a second home to me, and it definitely changed me. It's also where I learned Spanish. I haven't been back there since 2000, and I do miss it. I've never been to Tulum, but I like the older version of it that you experienced. I also can't stand touristy places. Green washing is a good term, and it's sadly bloody everywhere. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

I always wanted to go to Costa Rica, I hear it is very expensive now though. But wow the jungle there must be beautiful xxx
I lived and traveled there from 1990 to 2000, when the prices of things were a lot more manageable. Yes, it's definitely been developed quite a lot more now. The land and nature there are truly breathtaking indeed! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
