It is really sad to think that a person creates a content that he doesn't like, I agree that our content must be liked by ourselves to be liked by others, and even if others don't like it if I like it that's enough for me, because for me writing and my content is the source of my inspiration.
Of course it is a source of pride and satisfaction that other people like it and give you a nice comment, a vote, because it motivates and encourages us to continue, I do not consider my content as great but average, I think I've been improving a little thanks to Hive and I like that, because the idea is to improve ourselves little by little, I think we are releasing ideas and perfecting ourselves as we do it, it is a long process that we do not know how long it will take, the important thing is to enjoy it. You mention the concept of continual improvement and I agree that it's very important for a person to have that ethos here and in life in general. Understanding that we can improve, knowing where to and how will carry a person forward to a better life.
