Sometimes it can happen that the streets of a small, calm coastal town convert themselves into a different, more interesting thing. That occurs when the naked facades and terraces receive unusual dresses. Many of those houses, it doesn't matter if they are already worn out, new, humble or beautiful - many of them are dressed in canvas. Paintings.
Two days ago I almost accidentally passed there and saw one of the paintings. At that moment I remembered that it must be the Balconades outdoor exhibition. Although I have seen already several editions of Balconades, I decided to walk through all the streets where the paintings were displayed. The good thing is that the exhibition is located just in the city centre so you can see many artworks in a short time.
The paintings in this exposition are created by professional and amateur artists. Yes, the difference probably could be seen, between a painting done by an established artist and just someone who does it as a hobby, but I am not bothered at all with that. In art, it is not always the technique that captures your attention.
Some of the buildings had several exposed paintings. Almost every window or terrace received an artwork, like in this example:
Others had just one painting... But what I really liked is the fact that even the less attractive houses could shine in colour for some time.
Yoga con arte. @saraleo would maybe like to see this painting :)
Moon on the blue sky, and a lady with coloured face. Actually, it looks like a mask, but still, her forehead is also painted. The eyes have importance here, but what is she observing?
A group of girls with their own, unique style?
Or these guys, a musical group that performs rap music?
Seeing these different styles of paintings I am wondering if the house owners could choose the artworks? If I lived in one of these buildings in the centre I would not mind having a painting on my terrace. I would accept any of these. It would mean converting your facade into the walls of an outdoor museum.
The more I walked, the more I liked the exposition. Look at these two empty chairs, highlighted in red colour in this greyish environment. Where did the people who could sit there disappear?
How cute is this one, the woman reaching a flower from her window! It is nice, but my favourite is the next one, the clown.
The vibrant colours of the painting and the face of the person almost camouflaged in the background could make it invisible in society, but that red nose marks a difference. I do hope we don't have to clown around to stand out with our talents.
A last look toward the main street where most of the paintings were exposed. They will be taken down in a couple of weeks, and different ones will come back to dress the houses next year.
Wow, very nice, some of the paintings are very nice. Maybe I didn't read the text very carefully, but where is this place? Is the exhibition permanent or something like a manifestation of a few days or weeks? In any case, it's a very interesting idea...I hope they won't be surprised by the rain 😄
Where? It is in Spain, Mediterranean coast, so no worries about the rain :D
It is not permanent, just for a few weeks, but they make these exhibitions every year. So next year again in autumn but with different paintings.
Ah yes, the rain won't be a problem in the slightest 😂 I hope that one day I will run into these exhibitions since I am in Spain relatively often - I visit at least two times a year, although I am mostly in Barcelona.
Barcelona is a top destination 👌
We are a bit towards the south (a bit means here some 5-6 hours of driving 😆)
Hola @mipiano
Estamos cerquita entonces 😉
Saludos
Muchas gracias por tu amable respuesta.
Literalmente enfrente.
Sí 😁
Very cool art work to witness with a stroll down the street. My favorite is the empty red chairs. I know where I would be disappearing at 😁
I think I also know the answer to this 🎣 😁
Might be a missing chair as well !LOLZ

I'll go for the clown too :)
What a nice tradition! And you captured it beautifully!
Although I don't like clowns in shows haha, (I was scared of them as a child) this one has a different meaning. Thanks, @fotostef 🤗
I guess it was your post too before about houses with paintings..
They should make murals in the houses' walls too . The place will be more attractive hehe
Probably. I remember bringing the last exhibition of this type for one Wednesday walk 🚶♀
You live in a beautiful place.... The energy... The vibes... All of it just looks different...
Looks like the place has more love and connectivity...
Anyways! I hope you're doing amazing!!
The thing with energy and vibes I think comes from the sun... and the people who receive it and reflect it later :)
And there are more than 96 nationalities living in this town - this fact also adds to the colourness. 😇
So much beauty, I love it! I have never seen anything like it! The painting in the fifth picture is beautiful! Well, actually all of them.
What a beautiful post! I loved it, thank you very much @mipiano ❤️
Yes, it was nice too, the fifth. Actually, I wanted to put the photo of that painting as a cover photo, but in the end, I didn't 😒
Things that happen.... happens to me and until recently I didn't know how to do it, I learn something all the time.😃
Amazing! The one I like the most is the one with the lake and the two red chairs
Very cool one with the two red chairs! 😎
Beautiful paintings, it’s a very creative exhibition, I !LUV it. 🤩♥️

What is the girl observing? Lol but the painting looks 👌 🔥
The artist or painter did nice jobs on those paintings and makes the houses looks colourful too.
We don't know what she is observing, it is just to guess :D
It looks like a street in old Havana. And it's very nice that they do that exhibition, because it brings a lot of meaning to the city.
My favorites are: the one of the cats, the one of the peacock and the one of the girl on her balcony picking flowers.
:)
Oh, the one with the cats is cool indeed 😃
🐈🦃🌼
Sí, lo sé. Tengo buen gusto 🤣
What a beautiful "artistic initiative"!... And thank you very much for this excellent photographic record @mipiano friend!.... An interesting and enjoyable post!

What’s a nice art? This really add to the town beauty and attraction. I can walk through this road everyday without getting bored since there is a random and cool painting to discuss.
This event lasts for several weeks, so yes, the town (ok, just these streets) is more colourful during this time!
What a beautiful event, where the houses are dressed up with the works of various artists, some professionals, others amateurs, all equally beautiful and valuable.
They are indeed, all valuable in their way 😇
But they all look amazing though. I can't even tell that there are painting in there that was painted by an amateur. They all look cool and beautiful. And they all deserve to be flex like this to the world (✯ᴗ✯)
Glad you also find them amazing 😀
For sure these paintings had to come to this virtual exhibition :))
This is surprising and at the same time admirable, I have never seen anything like it. what beautiful works, one more beautiful than the other
I appreciate that you let us know these beauties
Have a happy restHello dear friend @mipiano good evening
This outdoor exhibition is repeated every year, of course with different paintings. A really nice initiative to encourage and promote local artists. :)

All these works seem beautiful to me. I think they give a magical touch to the street, to the neighborhood... I don't know much about styles, I just dedicate myself to feeling what a work provokes in me. I wish my city had this type of art, paintings and order and cleanliness in the street. I think the work of art is in that set.
A different look for sure, at least for some weeks. This is a nice initiative that probably many cities around the world should hold :)
what a great way for an artist to show of their work I would gladly own most of them, I really love the clown face
I love clowns.
You love clowns?
I just the painting, in real... not that much :D
(childhood trauma 😂)
Yes love clowns! Who doesn't love Pennywise!
childhood traumas, oops! understandable then.
Also think about that place and those buildings which have been decorated with quite beautiful paintings.
