The auspicious month of Savana ends with the festival of Raksha Bandhan. A festival to celebrate the bond & unity between brother and sister. It is so strange the we are blessed with so many festivals and Raksha Bandhan is one of a kind festival for the siblings. Generally, in this festival, sister ties a thread on brother wrist and brother promises to protect her from all adversity and supports in every situation. A true identity of Indias vast culture.
To celebrate the festival, the girls gets ready in different ways and applying mehndi (henna) is one of the popular way. It is also considered auspicious with colourful hand.
applied henna by my own
I have been fascinated with the henna art. I have seen many professional henna artist applying henna to different hands and charge heavinly. And during this kind of ocassion the charges gets too high. After watching few and watching few videos on Youtube. I did my part too. Nowadsys, we have ready to apply henna cones available in market.
This cone has henna paste, and we apply it on our hand by piercing through the conical part, so that a a thin layer of henna squeeze out. Mehndi or henna art is very fine form of art. It require constant focus and attention. A little distraction may spoil everythig. So Cone on my right hand , I started applying it on my Left hand. Begining with a circulart mandala art.
We can make any kind of design. It is solely on our choice whether we need a deep look or scattered look on our hand or palm. Mehndi is applied on both sides of hand. Infact on many occassion likes marriage, a bride applies henna or mehndi till the elbow and also on the legs till the knees. As i said it before, this form of art simply make all ocassion special.
Henna / Mehndi application is natural form of coloring our hand, which does not have any side effectt. Henna or Mehndi is made up of from plant leaves. Make a paste of them apply it on the hand and let them to dry. Once the paste get dry, remove the by scrubbing or washing. And you will see the end result.
The coloring dep3nds upon the skin of the person. And some times on the quality of the henna / mehndi. Few get more darker shades, while few get Red look while few get Orange. As in my case.
This is way of natural coloring. I choosed my own design. If you go to any professional artist in market, they have their art book to choose from differrnt design. And it is customer who opt out for their design. As I applied from my right hand, I have very few pictures. But hopefully it is enough for you to understand the anount of effort put in in making this piece looks attractive.
PS : the colour is temporary and fade off in 7 to 10 days
Very nice mehndii design I liked it
I can also make art like this
