The Frog Artist

Illustration is an art form that is rarely given the value it truly deserves. That's why it's such a pleasant surprise to find a gallery exhibition where illustration, delivered through various techniques, takes center stage. Although, to be completely honest, this wasn't entirely a surprise because David Pomier's work is one I've been following for some time, and as you can see, it has a unique magnetism.

His series, The Orwell, tells stories through illustration that reflect contemporary issues such as migration, generational trauma, family dynamics, and more. He uses mixed techniques to create his works, centering his now-famous "Frogs" as a compositional centerpiece, simultaneously serving as a reflection laden with symbolism and humanity.

Rarely does an artist so young, not even 20 years old, have such tangible concerns in his work. His expressive style is functional for all audiences, yet he also has enough substance to use characters as charismatic as his frogs as vehicles for addressing such difficult issues as those that plague his work.
