Tuesday, 11/9/21 — Leadville, CO — A lovely last supper of New York strip steak and baked potatoes

After bidding one of my favorite campsites a fond farewell I drove into town to spend the day with my buddy @fortunephoto, who has hopefully started doing something more than fuck all with his Hive account by the time this scheduled post of mine triggers. We took a quick trip to the P.O. and the grocery store, very exciting stuff. Leadville ain’t the same city it used to be. There are Teslas driving around town now, and some idiotic fuckhead of a developer went and tore down the iconic irreplaceable We Love Leadville sign to make way for a whole new neighborhood of brutally ugly-ass "affordable" houses that last I heard start in the mid to high 300s. They have tarnished the Two Mile High City's charm. I want the old half-dead ghost town Leadville back but I don't think it's ever coming back.

Back at his place I did a much needed load of laundry in the room where laundry happens while he prepared a lovely last supper of New York strip steak and baked potatoes. I know he was just trying to use his incredible cooking skills to manipulate me into not leaving Colorado for the winter but unfortunately I require more than just incredible cooking skills to consider wintering in Colorado. For me to consider wintering in Colorado I would require the cook to have not only incredible cooking skills but also a vagina. Last time I checked @fortunephoto has a penis, so thanks but no thanks.

After supper we shook hands and I left. That’s the last I’ll see him for several months or so. Such is life I suppose.

On my way out I stole a book from the lounge. Pat McManus, The Good Samaritan Strikes Again. Pretty sure I was the one who put it there in the first place.
