Snake

Hello, friends.

Look what a beauty I met at the weekend in my yard.

Yesterday, while working in my yard, I met a snake. It was a snake with two yellow spots on its head. They are also called ears. It's not poisonous.
These snakes are considered useful in gardening. They feed on small mice, which cause considerable damage to gardeners.
The first time I met this snake was 3 years ago. I was getting the manure out of the manure compartment, and I noticed a little nest with little snakes in it. I didn't kill them, I put them somewhere else. I knew that they would be warm in the dung heap and survive there. Well, or their mother will crawl to them.

After a while, I saw the snakes already grown up there. They weren't big yet, but they weren't small either. Periodically, I found snake skins. As you know, with their growth, snakes shed, change their skin

Last year I saw this snake often, or rather there were even 2 jokes. Only I was worried about my mother. She is very afraid of these snakes. When she lived apart from me, she also had a snake in her yard and my mother was very afraid of it.

This year, we thought that the snake had died or crawled away to another place, because after sorting out one compartment with manure, I did not meet it. Somehow, I was even sad about it. This winter there was a very strong frost, so the snakes could freeze.
But last Saturday I saw her again. She was lying on a dunghill, basking in the sun, completely oblivious to me.

I even managed to go home to get a camera, and she didn't even change her pose. She must have been asleep.
I tapped a little on the metal mesh, next to which it was lying, and then the snake decided to look in my direction. She stuck out her tongue, and then quietly crawled away on her own business.
In the evening, I warned my mother that the snake had reappeared. She wasn't even upset, she probably got used to it by now.

I'm not saying it's all the same snake, but I think it is.

All living things want to live. And it should live. The snake does not interfere with me, so I will not take its life, let it live.

Good luck and have fun

Sort:

Cool snake, looks almost like the one I found but with orange ears. This one also looks alot bigger.

I do not know what this snake is called in English. in Russian-UZH (УЖ),

It looks alot like a black rat snake. Probably a variant cousin of some kind.

I made a request to Yandex.
They belong to the same family - (Colubridae)

The summer snakes are finally out to play.

I'm not a huge fan of snakes though I appreciate their role in the ecosystem and leave them alone.🐍

When a wild snake doesn't slither away when we notice each other and instead gives me that tongue-out-stare-down look, I get goosebumps! No way I'd stop to take its photo. You're a brave person! @apnigrich
