Colombia was the second country in the world, after Afghanistan, in the number of new victims of antipersonnel mines and the first in the world in the number of victims of these explosive devices by the security forces. Currently, Colombia ranks sixth in the world in overall victims; 98% of attacks occur in rural areas. Not all of Colombia is mined; approximately 50% of the damage is concentrated in 25 municipalities, a reality that is latent among all citizens of this beautiful country.
