O processo de viragem a sépia remonta ao inicio do século passado. No processo analógico, na fase de impressão, depois de passar pelos banhos necessários (revelador, paragem e fixador) as provas eram "viradas a sépia" com uma substância química à base de enxofre.
Estas fotografias que apresento a concurso foram "viradas" digitalmente no programa Tonality, específico para simular as patines características do processo analógico.
A tonalidade sépia remete-nos para o passado, para as memórias, para os álbuns de fotografia dos nossos avós. Estas fotografias foram feitas num lar de idosos.

The process of sepia-toning dates back to the first decades of the last century. In the analog printing process, after going through the necessary baths (developer, stop and fixer) the proofs were “sepia-toned” with a sulphur-based chemical.

These photographs I'm presenting to the competition were digitally “turned” in the Tonality program, specifically designed to simulate the patinas characteristic of the analog process.

The sepia tone takes us back to the past, to memories, to our grandparents' photo albums. These photographs were taken in an old people's home.
