In posts shared on the platform, I have focused on the importance of heliconias as endemic plant species of the tropical zone, which gives them an advantage for easy cultivation and for export to countries that are not in the tropics, the fact that they are produced in the tropics implies that their production occurs throughout the year, because the climatic conditions are very similar during the year, presenting two rainy seasons and two dry seasons.

▶ One of the countries where the preference for starting this type of crop has increased is Colombia, which has nothing to envy to the traditional ones; because it has one more business option; the export gives at this time an economic opening in America, because it is an alternative that can be very stable in the long term, because it is here where they have their natural habitat and where they are best produced.

This flower has been commercialized in the world for 15 years, three years ago it has increased the preference of consumers, opening the possibility of more markets; its diversity in colors, shapes and sizes, as well as its duration, are the factors that most influence the preference of this product.
Flowers after cutting last approximately 12 to 20 days to begin to show wilting symptoms, depending on the variety, lasting up to 30 to 40 days for total wilting.

Good shots 👌🏽
Very interesting. We have a lot of these in Panama, and I often wonder at how little exportation we do of things like this. Colombia, our neighbor, is the world's largest flower exporter.
