Hi @mitch18, you are right, they are not safe for kids, but there are cacti with very small spines, practically harmless, the one I remember best is the species Opuntia cochenillifera. This cactus is not columnar, rather it is arborescent and produces very beautiful flowers. I show you some photos of a cactus that I had at home.

We had that kind of plants and for that cactus we are trying to get out from our garden as we see that its not safe for the kids
