“I am so lucky to have a beautiful public park with amazing wildlife and blooming flowers literally one minute across the road from me. I walk there almost everyday with my dog.”
Hello @amazingnature community. I am Danaidh B and today I am going to show you my local “walkies park” which is the beautiful - ‘Baxter’s Park’ in Dundee, Scotland 🙂 🌸 🌺🏴
When you enter these Huge gates into this 37acre park you instantly feel protected by the lions on the bottom of the gate before you enter, then witness the grandeur of the towering trees, secluded from the busy road by the big railed walls, and automatically invited by the intense colours of the flourishing flora and fauna!
Built in 1862 and designed by a rich Flax Mill owning family, the park and it’s buildings still stands the test of time today.
It was donated by the ‘Baxter’ family to the council of Dundee and its people and given funding of over £3million in 2003.
Onto the purple, pink and blue flowers now. It wasn’t a particularly sunny or bright day but the colours around this park we’re definitely eye catching enough! I have used some easy auto filters to enhance a few of the colours, the originals were quite dull and gloomy, like I said it wasn’t that sunny today.
This “Snakes Head” or (Fritillaria meleagris) flower is amazing, it has a kaleidoscope of chequered patterns on the inside and out. The ground was littered with these beautiful ‘head-down’ flowers and they stand out with their unusual and intriguing appearance.
There are so many flowers popping out at every edge, corner and open patch of wild grass and bushes, sporadically placed and sprouting.
Now we have some red, orange and yellow flowers making some beautiful statements.
Here is Shirley in the distance (on the far left) behind these Daffodils, she loves this park. She thinks it’s her park!
This park is busy all day and gets quite well maintained (at times) but Mother Nature does all the hard work for us, we just have to get out there and appreciate it.
Flowers are more important than you think. There are just a few aspects that I endlessly enjoy, which are;
- It is great for our mental health to simply just look at flowers on a daily basis.
- The geometry, the shape and symmetry.
- The colours, the smell, and sometimes taste.
- Also the way in which they move and act, and how they make us feel:
Are all things that stimulate, improve, and develop our brains naturally into a nature loving, plant and flower fanatic… so we can have a relaxed mind, letting us gain better clarity and focus on things in life.
Now for a couple of white/pale blooms to end it off for today.
I hope you enjoyed Part 1 of ‘Scotland in Bloom’ Spring Edition 2023 of “Baxter’s in Bloom” ‘My Monday Walk’ through ‘My Local Park’, here in Baxter’s Park, Dundee, Scotland.
Many thanks for reading my post, I hoped you enjoy the flowers and park as much as My dog and I do. I feel so blessed that I can see these amazing colours everyday and appreciate the shape and character of such plants. They are amazing whether they think so or not. They may not know how much they are appreciated, just like you.!
Please appreciate yourself more :)
🙏

Thank you :) thanks for stopping by to view my post🙏
Have a nice day
The color of the flower is really very beautiful, but is it wilted or is the type of flower model like that?
If you are referring to the flower for the thumbnail that’s a “snakes head” or (Fritillaria meleagris) yes it just grows like this and looks a bit thirsty haha. Quite fragile as well
Thanks for viewing my post :)
Which flowers/picture are you referring to my friend?
