I popped down to the village lido to see how the cygnets were doing. There they were, bobbing along in the water on the other side of the lido. I quickly started counting them, relieved to find all five present and accounted for. It was good knowing that they were all safe and sound.
The cygnets seemed to be having a good time, copying their parents as they dunked their heads into the water in search of food.
However, not everything went smoothly for them. At times, they struggled to get back upright and ended up flapping awkwardly in the water.
They managed it in the end but it was quite funny. Part of me wanted to give them a helping hand.
The parent swans took a break from their parental responsibilities to have a good preen.
There's not a lot of new life on the lido at the moment. At least the villagers will be happy in the knowledge that these new arrivals are still healthy and growing fast.
Cute little swan butts!
