Watching the amazing water buffalos at Lake Balaton (Hungary)

in WE ARE MOVING10 months ago (edited)

This year in Spring Stefan and I visited Lake Balaton in Hungary for some wildife and birdphotography. Eventhough we were a bit dissapointed by the different species of birds that we saw it was a nice trip with a lot of interstings things to see. For example the Hegyestű Geológiai Bemutatóhely Vulcano that is situated near lake Balaton. It is a extingueshed vulcano and I found it very interesting to see. The Food was quite good but the weather could have been a little bit better. I especially liked the homemade lemonade they had there.

One thing that was really exciting was seeing these water buffalos in a quite big reserve where they can live and prosper. They are a protected species in hungary since there are only few places where they can still live and prosper. The Buffalo Reserve is situated at the smaller "Kis-Balaton" wich is also the better spot for bird photography. But since there is a lot of restricted area there are only a few spots that are suitable for some birdphotography or birdwatching. So I know several better spots here in Austria for birdwatching.

Their area is pretty big and looks nice, good for them! :D

I love the first shot, looks powerful and intimidating lol good thing there was a fence indeed

These "cows" are on Hortobágy too. There'll probably be a lot of them in Hungary.
