Querida comunidad #AmazingNature, es genial estar de regreso con ustedes, espero que este nuevo año este repleto de todos esos maravillosos regalos que nos brinda a diario la naturaleza y que podamos compartirlos en este hermoso lugar de amantes de la naturaleza. El día de hoy quiero compartir una flor con un aspecto bastante peculiar, pero a la vez muy hermoso. Conocí, esta bella planta en el jardín de una muy querida amiga hace poco tiempo y de inmediato me llamo la atención, el violeta intenso de sus pequeñas flores, que resaltaba maravillosamente sobre el verde de sus hojas.

Today I want to share a flower with a very peculiar aspect, but at the same time very beautiful. I met this beautiful plant in the garden of a very dear friend a short time ago and it immediately caught my attention, the intense violet of its small flowers, which stood out beautifully on the green of its leaves.

Angelonia Angustifolia, es el nombre botánico con el que se conoce a esta especie de plantas, sin embargo, el curioso aspecto de su flor, ha ocasionado que se le conozca de forma popular por el singular nombre de Boca de Vieja. Otro nombre bastante peculiar con el que también se le suele identificar es Dragón de Verano, en este caso, debe el apodo a su parecido con la flor de la especie Antirrhinum, mejor conocida como Boca de Dragon.

Angelonia Angustifolia, is the botanical name by which this species of plants is known, however, the curious appearance of its flower, has caused it to be popularly known by the unique name of Boca de Vieja (Old Woman's Mouth). Another rather peculiar name with which it is also often identified is Summer Dragon, in this case, it owes its nickname to its resemblance to the flower of the Antirrhinum species, better known as Dragon's Mouth.

Esta vivaz hierba de hojas perenne y floración abundante es de origen mexicano, y es una de las especies que conforman la familia de las Plantaginaceae. Este pequeño arbusto posee la virtud de evolucionar de forma excelente, bien sea, plantándola en el suelo directo o en maseta. Aunado a esto, también se caracteriza por tener un rápido desarrollo, con un abundante y hermoso follaje, y si le agregamos sus llamativas y proliferas inflorescencia, tenemos una combinación que la hace muy cotizada en el ámbito ornamental.

This perennial herb with perennial leaves and abundant flowering is of Mexican origin, and is one of the species that make up the Plantaginaceae family. This small shrub has the virtue of evolving in an excellent way, either by planting it in the ground directly or in pots. In addition to this, it is also characterized by a rapid development, with abundant and beautiful foliage, and if we add its showy and prolific inflorescence, we have a combination that makes it very sought after in the ornamental field.

Es una planta fuerte, resiste a las plagas y tolera bien la sequía, aunque, para asegurar un adecuado desarrollo debe contar con un riego moderado, y estar expuesta al sol, ya que, le encanta. Por otro lado, como ya les comenté, es muy frondosa pero relativamente pequeña, ya que, no supera los 30 cm tanto de alto como de ancho. Posee unos tallos erguidos donde se distribuyen numerosas y pequeñas hojas de forma estrecha y alargadas con un delicado aroma que recuerda a las manzanas.

It is a strong plant, resists pests and tolerates drought well, although, to ensure proper development should have a moderate watering, and be exposed to the sun, as it loves it. On the other hand, as I already mentioned, it is very leafy but relatively small, since it does not exceed 30 cm both in height and width. It has erect stems where numerous small leaves are distributed narrow and elongated with a delicate aroma reminiscent of apples.

La Angelonia destaca por poseer una abundante floración, que, en condiciones adecuadas, puede extenderse durante todo el año. Sus llamativas inflorescencias, se desarrollan en espigas de donde emergen múltiples florecillas que se asemejan a pequeñas orquídeas. Según la variedad, sus flores las podemos apreciar en vivos colores como el purpura y violeta, pasando por el azul y rosado, hasta encontrarnos con el lila y el blanco.

The Angelonia stands out for its abundant flowering, which, under the right conditions, can extend throughout the year. Its showy inflorescences develop in spikes from which emerge multiple small flowers that resemble small orchids. Depending on the variety, its flowers can be seen in bright colors such as purple and violet, through blue and pink, to lilac and white.

Por último, quería comentarle, un detalle interesante sobre esta decorativa planta, aunque normalmente las tenemos decorando nuestros jardines, también la posemos usar para crear hermosos arreglos florales dentro de nuestros hogares. Resulta, que, si cortamos sus hermosas espigas florales y la colocamos en un jarrón dentro de nuestras casas, pueden llegar a durar entre 15 a 20 días, eso sí, las debemos ubicar en un lugar que este muy bien iluminado.

Finally, I wanted to tell you an interesting detail about this decorative plant, although we usually have them decorating our gardens, we can also use them to create beautiful floral arrangements in our homes. It turns out that if we cut their beautiful flower spikes and place them in a vase inside our homes, they can last between 15 to 20 days, of course, we must place them in a place that is very well lit.
