Bienvenidos Queridos Amantes de la Fotografía
Como se han podido dar cuenta por mis publicaciones, amo las flores, me parecen tan hermosas, son un verdadero deleite para nuestros sentidos. Por supuesto, al igual que todos, tengo mis preferidas, y precisamente, la familia de las orquídeas ocupa el segundo lugar dentro de mi lista de favoritas. Por suerte, en mi pequeño jardín, he tenido el placer de cultivar algunas especies, aunque, la que hoy les comparto no es una de ellas.
As you may have noticed from my publications, I love flowers, I find them so beautiful, they are a true delight for our senses. Of course, like everyone else, I have my favorites, and precisely, the orchid family is second on my list of favorites. Luckily, in my small garden, I have had the pleasure of growing some species, although the one I am sharing with you today is not one of them.
Lamentablemente, este género de orquídeas en particular, no se desarrolla adecuadamente en mi casa, ya que, las condiciones ambientales no son, favorables. Sin embargo, mi hermana vive en otra ciudad, y ella, si ha logrado cultivarla en su jardín, por suerte, cuando estuve en su casa, tuve la oportunidad de ver florecer varias de sus plantas. Me di, mucho gusto fotografiándolas y hoy le comparto una muestra de las imágenes correspondientes específicamente, a una orquídea Mariposa, Alevilla, u orquídea Boca. Esos son los nombres, con los que se le conoce de forma común, sin embargo, en el ámbito botánico su nombre científico de Phalaenopsis.
Unfortunately, this particular genus of orchids does not develop properly in my house, since the environmental conditions are not favorable. However, my sister lives in another city, and she has managed to grow them in her garden. Luckily, when I was at her house, I had the opportunity to see several of her plants bloom. I took great pleasure in photographing them and today I share with you a sample of the images corresponding specifically to a Butterfly orchid, Alevilla, or Boca orchid. Those are the names with which it is commonly known, however, in the botanical field its scientific name is Phalaenopsis.
El nombre científico de esta planta es el producto de la conjunción de dos palabras griegas y curiosamente se lo debe a la semejanza de su flor a una mariposa en vuelo. Entonces, al separarlas tenemos por un lado “Phalaina” que significa mariposa y por otro lado “Opsis” significa parecido, de allí su nombre, popular, “Orquídea Mariposa. En otro orden de ideas, este es un género de orquídeas, consta de aproximadamente 50 especies y es originario del sudeste de Asia. Incluso, como dato curioso, en Taiwán existe una isla llamada Orquídea y su nombre se lo debe específicamente a las Phalaenopsis. Sin embargo, también se pueden encontrar algunas especies en Suramérica, específicamente en la Selva baja de Perú, además, también en el norte australiano.
The scientific name of this plant is the product of the conjunction of two Greek words and curiously it is due to the resemblance of its flower to a butterfly in flight. Then, when separating them we have on the one hand "Phalaina" which means butterfly and on the other hand "Opsis" means similar, hence its popular name, "Butterfly Orchid. In another order of ideas, this is a genus of orchids, consists of approximately 50 species and is native to Southeast Asia. Even, as a curious fact, in Taiwan there is an island called Orchid and its name is due specifically to the Phalaenopsis. However, some species can also be found in South America, specifically in the lowland rainforest of Peru, as well as in northern Australia.
En lo que respecta, a sus requerimientos en estado silvestre, estos dependerán de la variedad, pero a nivel general, requieren entornos con humedad ambiental. Ya que, de él obtienen los nutrientes y el agua que requieren para sobrevivir, además, necesitan hábitats donde se encuentren protegidas de la incidencia solar directa. Ahora, si nos referimos a su cultivo a nivel doméstico, la exuberante belleza de estas orquídeas, las hace estar entre las favoritas. Además, tienen la ventaja de que, si reproducimos de forma artificial en nuestros hogares, las condiciones ambientales que requieren se reproducen y florecen muy bien. Por suerte, en la mayoría de los casos, estas condiciones no son difíciles de reproducir, solo es cuestión de informarnos antes de tomar la decisión de adquirir una de estas plantas, lamentablemente, ese no es mi caso.
Regarding their requirements in the wild, these will depend on the variety, but in general, they require environments with ambient humidity. Since they obtain from it the nutrients and water they need to survive, they also need habitats where they are protected from direct sunlight. Now, if we refer to their cultivation at a domestic level, the exuberant beauty of these orchids, makes them be among the favorites. In addition, they have the advantage that, if we reproduce artificially in our homes, the environmental conditions they require reproduce and bloom very well. Fortunately, in most cases, these conditions are not difficult to reproduce, it is only a matter of informing ourselves before making the decision to acquire one of these plants, unfortunately, that is not my case.
Son plantas que se en su mayoría son epífitas, en otras palabras, se desarrollan sobre las ramas de los árboles, pero, sin tener un comportamiento parasitario. Las ramas de los árboles, solo le sirven de soporte a sus gruesas raises, las cuales son de color verde, debido a que contienen clorofila, por lo que, son capaces de realizar fotosíntesis. Sin embargo, en condiciones silvestres el color verde de sus raíces, no siempre, se nota a simple vista. Estas, están recubiertas de una especie de cobertura esponjosa, llamada velamen, el cual, le permite absorber la humedad y los nutrientes del ambiente.
They are plants that are mostly epiphytes, in other words, they develop on the branches of trees, but without having a parasitic behavior. The branches of the trees only support their thick roots, which are green because they contain chlorophyll and are therefore capable of photosynthesis. However, in wild conditions, the green color of their roots is not always visible to the naked eye. They are covered with a kind of spongy covering, called velamen, which allows them to absorb humidity and nutrients from the environment.
Se caracterizan por poseer tallos cortos, con un tipo de ramificación monopódica, presentando en su base entre 3 y 5 hojas de un color verde brillante. Sus hojas llegan a medir como máximo 50cm de largo y 10 cm de ancho y poseen un pronunciado nervio a lo largo del centro de cada una de ellas. Por otro lado, son carnosas, debido a que, porque tienen la capacidad de retener líquido dentro de ellas.
They are characterized by short stems, with a type of monopodic branching, presenting at its base between 3 and 5 leaves of a bright green color. Its leaves reach a maximum length of 50 cm and 10 cm wide and have a pronounced nerve along the center of each one of them. On the other hand, they are fleshy, because they have the capacity to retain liquid inside them.
Finalmente, en lo que respecta a su inflorescencia, esta es una larga y delgada vara florar que llega a medir hasta un metro de largo aproximadamente. La misma, emerge de la zona donde se encuentra la unión entre las hojas y el tallo, se ira desarrollando y creciendo por alrededor de 3 meses. Se debe tener en cuenta que las varas florales se les debe colocar una especie de tutor, para que no se doblen y corran el riesgo de partirse y dañarse. Después de desarrollado completamente la vara florar, iniciará la formación de varios capullos florales, a partir de los cuales se desarrollarán sus hermosa, aromáticas y duraderas flores.
Finally, regarding its inflorescence, this is a long and slender flowering stem that can measure up to one meter long approximately. It emerges from the area where the union between the leaves and the stem is located, and will develop and grow for about 3 months. It should be taken into account that the flowering canes should be placed a kind of tutor, so that they do not bend and run the risk of breaking and being damaged. After the flowering stem is fully developed, it will start to form several flower buds, from which it will develop its beautiful, aromatic and long-lasting flowers.

Hola @francyrios, hermosas fotografías que le hace honor a la belleza de esta planta. En Venezuela también hay una isla que llaman La isla de las Orquídeas en el Parque Nacional Canaima y en ese lugar hay una gran diodiversidad. Saludos
