A community that I have not stopped exploring lately, as I have been immersed in the striking and interesting content of its authors, who share stunning photographs in order to appreciate everything that our wonderful planet has given us 🌎🌱. Como pueden notar en el título de esta publicación, el escenario de las fotografías presentadas en este post fue la casa de mis abuelos. Un lugar dónde siempre ha existido una sensación muy fuerte de estar en contacto con lo natural, que a lo largo de los años ha sido el hogar de diversos animales como perros, gatos, loros, gallinas, morrocoyas, peces, pavos, pájaros, etc. Un sitio dónde además es muy común toparse con insectos de toda clase.
As you can notice in the title of this post, the scenery of the photographs presented in this post was my grandparents' house. A place where there has always been a very strong sense of being in contact with nature, which over the years has been home to various animals such as dogs, cats, parrots, chickens, morrocoyas, fish, turkeys, birds, etc.. A place where it is also very common to come across insects of all kinds.
Pensar en ello es muy nostálgico, ya que desde pequeña me familiaricé con todo esos aspectos debido a pasaba mi tiempo aquí casi todas las tardes, compartiendo con toda mi familia. Sin embargo, al fallecer mis dos abuelas dejé de visitarla tan seguido como antes y me acostumbré a la vida en una urbanización donde no pasaba mucho tiempo al aire libre. No obstante, últimamente, he vuelto a pasar mis días aquí. Esto que me ha traído muchos recuerdos de mi infancia, cuando invertía horas de mi tiempo jugando en el patio escuchando el sonido del viento a través de los árboles y sobretodo el cantar las aves a cada momento.
Thinking about it is very nostalgic, because since I was a little girl I was familiar with all these aspects because I spent my time here almost every afternoon, spending time with my whole family. However, when both my grandmothers passed away I stopped visiting as often as before and got used to life in a housing development where I didn't spend much time outdoors. Lately, however, I have returned to spend my days here more often, which has brought back many memories of my childhood, when I spent hours of my time playing in the yard, listening to the sound of the wind through the trees and above all the birds singing at every moment.
En esta primera fotografía, pueden observar de lejos a uno de los tantos ejemplares de esta clase que vienen a posarse en las ramas de los árboles. Su presencia siempre ha abundado en esta casa y recuerdo que toda la vida lo he conocido como "Cristofué", debido a su canto particular que enuncia dicha frase. El nombre científico de esta especie es Pitangus Sulphuratus, aunque es denominado de diversas formas dependiendo de cómo es escuchado su canto en las distintas regiones. Mide entre 21 y 26 cm de longitud y su característica más distintiva es su pecho de color amarillo. Debo decir que les he desarrollado un cariño especial, ya que dónde sea que escuche su canto es inevitable que recuerde las tardes con mi abuela recolectando los mangos del patio, atendiendo al canto de los Cristofué. Tristemente, no pude capturar una imagen más cercana pero les adjunto otra extraída de internet para que aprecien su aspecto con mayor detalle.
In this first photograph, you can observe from afar one of the many specimens of this kind that come to perch on the branches of the trees. Its presence has always abounded in this house and I remember that all my life I have known it as "Cristofué", due to its particular song that enunciates that phrase. The scientific name of this species is Pitangus Sulphuratus, although it is called in different ways depending on how its song is heard in different regions. It measures between 21 and 26 cm in length and its most distinctive feature is its yellow breast. I must say that I have developed a special affection for them, since wherever I hear their song I inevitably remember afternoons with my grandmother picking mangoes in the yard, listening to the Cristofué's song. Sadly, I was not able to capture a closer image but I attach another one taken from the internet so that you can appreciate their aspect in greater detail.

La siguiente imagen fue capturada mientras caminaba distraída por el patio de la casa, cuando me he topado con este espécimen que me resultó muy interesante. En su momento, no supe qué clase de araña era, mucho menos si era venenosa o no. Sin embargo me llamó mucho la atención la parte blanca de su trozo, pues si miras con suficiente atención puedes distinguir el rostro de un tigre. Realmente, eso fue lo primero que pensé al mirar la foto con detalle sin saber que posteriormente al escanearla haciendo uso de Google Lens y el buscador de Google, pude averiguar la especie de este arácnido. Se trataba de la Argiope Argentata, comúnnente conocida como araña tigre, algo que me sorprendió mucho (en parte porque tampoco esperaba que Google hiciera tan buen trabajo escaneando la fotografía). Finalmente, en la búsqueda descubrí que su veneno no representa un riesgo mortal para los seres humanos y probablemente aún se encuentre rondando por la casa.

Un día, para cumplirme un capricho llegó a la casa uno de estos animalitos del mercado, en ese momento era muy pequeña. Me contenté tanto que al instante ya quería otra para que le hiciera compañía a la primera, sólo que en esta ocasión quería que fuera un macho para que tuvieran muchas crías, a lo que mi abuela accedió. Semanas después regresó nuevamente del mercado con el morrocoy. Mi emoción era enorme y recuerdo preguntarle a mi abuela todos los días cuándo tendrían a sus bebés. Finalmente, como toda niña olvidé el tema y tiempo después mi abuela falleció, así como posteriormente una de las morrocoyas.
Finally, we can see in the images a beautiful land turtle. Her name is Karina and she has a story that still amuses me to this day. She was a gift from my grandmother, whom I always asked to give me animals. She was wonderful, she never hesitated to please all my desires, from having a dog to giving me little fish, fish and land turtles.
One day, to fulfill a whim, she came home with a small one from the market. I was so pleased that I immediately wanted another one to keep the first one company, only this time I wanted it to be a male so that they would have many offspring, to which my grandmother agreed. Weeks later she returned again from the market with the land turtle. My excitement was enormous and I remember asking my grandmother every day when they would have their babies. Eventually, like any child, I forgot about it and some time later my grandmother passed away, as did one of the turtles.

Hasta el día de hoy, Karina sigue rondando en el enorme patio de la casa de mis abuelos y creo que tiene una vida feliz en un espacio bastante grande. Se la pasa comiendo muchas frutas (especialmente mangos) y mi abuelo siempre está al pendiente de darle agua siempre que sale de su escondite.
Some time ago, when I least expected it in the middle of a conversation, my mom commented (without being aware that I didn't know) that the supposed morrocoy was always a female and that my grandmother never wanted to tell me. I sometimes wonder what she was thinking when I asked her every day without fail regarding the offspring they were going to have.
To this day, Karina is still hanging around in the huge yard of my grandparents' house and I think she has a happy life in a fairly large space. She eats lots of fruit (especially mangos) and my grandfather is always on the lookout to give her water whenever she comes out of hiding.
