16 days ago, the woodland near my house was dominated by Trilliums, and like every spring, things change very quickly. The lilacs have come and are almost past their peak and the flowering crab apples have lost their flowers.
It was a little windy today, and there are so many lilacs that the next photo is more typical.
These are lilacs too and their scent is everywhere.
The honeysuckles are taking over.
They come in several colours too.
The water puddles in the woodland have dried up and the trilliums that were everywhere are gone, replaced by...
I think they call this Solomon's Seal and it was everywhere today.
The ferns are long past the fiddlehead stage.
Lily of the valley is another fragrant beauty.
These are two photos of a new mystery wildflower.
One day this will be a bunch of grapes on this wild grape vine.
These last 3 photos are of flowering shrubs planted by the city.
This rose flower was huge, and although it resembles a wild rose is probably one of the hardy roses bred by the Central Experimental Farm in Ottawa.
