Time for Jacaranda mimosifolia

When something is so beautiful and unattainable - like this elegant lady, Jacaranda... You know, she invaded the whole city, with her violet flowers that are impossible to photograph. Simply not possible.

And that's what my husband told me a few days ago when we saw this beautiful tree and I started to take a picture of it. He said that it was not easy, and he was right. But I didn't give up and every time I saw a Jacaranda tree I tried to take a photo. I gathered a whole collection of pictures, ie. photos in the attempt.

IMG_20240515_083121.jpg

The trees are too high and the flowers are quite small. And the colour does not differ too much from the sky, so when you stand under this tree and look up, toward the sky - through the canopy of the Jacaranda tree you feel like seeing the sky but with this violet shade... if this makes any sense what I just wrote.

IMG_20240515_083511.jpg

Let's move from the colour of the flowers to the scent. I could not recall from the previous years when I saw this blooming tree its fragrance but this time I could smell it. It is not too strong, like Jasmine for example, but sweet enough for me to like it.

It also seems that its leaves and flowers can be used for medicinal purposes, but I am not informed enough so I stay just an observer of these pretty purple/violet bells, which adorn the branches two times a year, in spring and autumn.

IMG_20240516_140710.jpg

This is the first blooming this year. The second one will come in September or October but usually, there are more flowers on the trees in spring (note - just my own observation/perception).

I saw the first ones several days ago and since then I have been on this mission to take at least one nice photo of the tree. I ended up with many and none is making justice. Here is the collection, although I deleted several photos from here that I didn't like or which don't represent well this lady Jacaranda's charm. 😅

Btw, Jacaranda is native to South America but it is not uncommon to see it here in Spain. They probably like the climate as well, and interestingly I see every year more and more Jacaranda trees.

Out of curiosity about how the tree can be propagated, I watched some videos on YouTube about it. You can grow them from seeds but I don't have a garden where a tree of this height could live.

If you notice in the following photo, this Jacaranda also has woody seed pods. The light, winged seeds are growing inside them, which are helped by the wind to start their flight after the pods open. I hope that many of them can bring new Jacaranda trees to life.

Here I found one seed pod on the ground. The seeds were not there anymore but I anyway took it home, as an encouragement to write this little purple post after another long and busy day.

... So, what about your city/town? Are there jacaranda trees in the place where you live?

The images you show are beautiful. The combination of the blue sky with the purple flowers is very nice. The picture I like the most is the last one where you can see the mountains in the distance and the Jacaranda is the protagonist. Another thing that Spain took from America is its flora. Here in Cuba, the beautiful flowers like this tall orange and red flamboyant and the purple cedars. They give a beautiful color to the city.

The last one is my favourite too, I took it this afternoon. 🌳 And the seed pod I have in my hand fell from this tree. :)

Wonderful pictures, they seem to suit very well on Spain.

Thanks. Yeah, a bit of mixture of palm trees and Jacaranda 😁

There's another beautiful thing to love about purple. I thought Milka was unattainable and you saw that she was not. 😂📷

But Jacaranda is still unattainable 😂

Do I notice that are you starting to like purple a bit more? hahaha

Gracias @mamani 😇

It creates a dreamy image mixing purple with sky! Though the nature of the tree made it harder to capture, yet you have some nice pictures.

Thank you. There are colours and shapes of some flowers that are not easy to capture, one of them is this one but still, worth trying it 😁

I myself had gone for my walk and I saw the same beautiful flowers there. They were of different colors and I felt very happy and relaxed seeing them. Yellow flowers are very special.

Beautiful photos ! I'll have to look out for the jacarandas when we come over to your bit of Spain in September - we usually come over for a holiday in February, which is too early for them (and probably why I've never spotted them previously !)

Yes, February is too early. Just some two weeks ago or less these trees were kinda naked hahah, no flowers or leaves and what a difference now ;)

Enjoy your stay in Spain, September is still a warm month and the sea great 😎

I think I saw it in Baguio but I am not sure since I didn't notice if there is a seed pod.

But we have Banaba tree, somehow quite similar 😁

Oh indeed, quite a similar colour. But I see the Banaba tree has green leaves too and at the moment our jacarandas are just with the flowers. Later the green leaves will grow too

I love them too;just don't park your car beneath them in the blooming season, or you'll get a sticky mess in your windshield! :)

Hahaha, true. That is why the seed pod was a bit sticky when I picked it up 😅

The small flowers on this big tree are looking very beautiful and these flowers are attracting me towards them 🪻

Congratulations, you received an ecency upvote through the curator @sahi1. Keep spreading love through ecency

Beuatiful and magical jacarandas 😇

I have not seen them here in Cuba but they are beautiful 😍🙌.

They bloom just in spring and autumn, when they are not with the flowers the trees are quite unnoticeable. Mamani said there are jacaranda trees in Cuba too 🤓

Many beautiful flowers bloomed on the trees, it created a very beautiful environment. Heavenly Empire

Purple/violet empire of Jacaranda trees 😇

There is Jacaranda mimosifolia here in HK..it blooms in April.. I guess I saw some along the street... didn't know the name yet back then until I saw this post hehe

So this lady revealed now its identity to you hahaha

Haha.. yeah, I like purple.. so I like this too

I'm glad you kept trying. So pretty with the purple blooms against the blue sky.

That's an interesting looking seed pod too.

So pretty, indeed ;)) The seed pods, maybe they can be used somehow in artistic adventures :D actually, the seeds could be, for sure, but it was already empty

If the outside of the seed pod is firm, maybe you could paint one side and then lay it back out under the tree with other pods.

Beautiful, they really give colors to the sky and the surrounding. It's vibrant color bring good vibes to those who pass by in there, ehe.

I don't know about others, but I am with good vibes and happy when I see them 😇

Hi @mipiano, we have Jacarandas in our country, obviously not indigenous, but you see them everywhere, and they are simply stunning. Our neighbours have a large tree, and I've also tried to take photos of it, but it does not do any justice to what we see with the naked eye. We do have a purple carpet on our paved pathway as the blossoms are blown our way, it looks very pretty.
Your one close-up image is stunning though!
We had Jacarandas at my old school, and when they bloomed, we knew year-end exams were upon us!
Our capital city Pretoria, is known as the Jacaranda City, they have avenues of Jacarandas and the city is dotted with purple flowers when in bloom, really beautiful as can be seen in the link!
Have a great Friday.

Having a purple carpet under your feet sounds like living in a dream world ✨ though I hope it doesn't mean that you have to clean the pathway many times 😅

Thank you so much for the link you have shared, I didn't know that about Pretoria but those Jacarandas look amazing 😍. Indeed, like a city dotted with purple flowers 💜 . It's beautiful, thank you for letting me know 😇

Great Friday to you too, dear @lizelle !

Yep, we're almost reluctant to sweep it, but a new carpet shows up overnight, especially when it's windy.
The weekend's here, enjoy it, lovely lady <3

I haven't seen this kind of tree before here in my city and even in my hometown but we have some similar flowering trees though. The blooms ate also purple it's called the Banaba tree. The flowers are unscented though but when the trees bloom usually during summers, Wow! They are so beautifully clustered or in bouquets all in dark purple shade. Also the leaves of the tree is medicinal, it has lots of health benefits

Aside from its antidiabetic properties, banaba is also known for its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-hyperuricemia, anti-fibrotic, antinociceptive, anti-obesity, and antioxidant activities. (Source: Google)

Many plants could be used for our health, it seems. Those that know well the plants and their properties are wise people :)

Yes that's true.

I love them!!!! You know? In Argentina there are some, but I've never seen as many as here. Where I used to live the climate was dry and windy, so it is impossible to keep the flowers.
And here in Malaga there are a lot of them and I am fascinated by their beautiful colour and the fact that everything is full of colour.

What wonderful pictures! Thanks @mipiano!❤️

Thank you @avdesing 😇

It rings a bell that there are many Jacaranda trees in Argentina, but I didn't know there are more of them here in Spain. Maybe we could see the jacaranda trees from Malaga these days? 📸

I was thinking about it!

I have a strange timetable these days, my brother is on holiday and I'm adapting a bit, so you can enjoy it as a family. But I have it in mind!

If I've seen those trees in better conditions here than in Argentina, maybe it's the climate.

This is an absolute beauty. At first glance I thought it's what we have here, during spring, but when I saw the flower in your hand, knew it's different. I've never seen this flower, but it's beautiful. Oh, I should have written this comment with our secret coding 😁 How are you these days?

untitled.gif

I have never seen it either, until we moved here. 😇 Hahaha, yes, we didn't write in our way for some time 🤐 (note to myself- this must be corrected 😂) Quite busy days here but all the things will be sorted out around the end of June or half of July. 🤞😅✨

Seeing violet flowers everywhere around the city is actually going to make sense
The flowers are really beautiful
I love them!

Wooooow!!!!... Amazing species!... Nice shots @mipiano friend!
