Returning from my daily walk I found a small clearing that seems to occupy the resting place of the shepherd or goatherd. In its vicinity, the trees appeared covered with beautiful garlands of yellow and flared flowers shining in the evening sunlight.

Popularly known as Andalusian creeper, vidalba, hierba muermera, Andalusian plumage, Virginia clematis, stained glass or squirrel's tail, its scientific name is Clematis cirrhosa.

It is a climbing plant related to buttercups. Its tendrils, hooks or cirrus (cirrhosa means "with many tendrils" and clematis means "climbing") allow it to climb the branches of trees and reach privileged areas of sun.

Its flowers leave no one indifferent, its showy bells emerge in the middle of winter (January, February and March) and it is clear that it withstands the freezing temperatures that accompany it during these cold months. They are hermaphrodites (both sexual organs in the same flower) and were found in the Sierra de Camarolos, Villanueva del Rosario, Malaga province.
