Welcome dear
🕷️ Amazing Nature Lover 🕷️
What a surprise it was, to discover something so unexpected on a bridge I had crossed countless times before. I often walked over that bridge using its spiral ramps that are ideal for crossing the busy highway and the waterway below, especially for cyclists. The spiders also like those spiral ramps, it seems, and they had grown either larger or more numerous, perhaps a sign that it was breeding season. Their sheer size caught my eye as I passed by.
Upon closer inspection, I realized that all three of the spiral ramps are teeming with these cross spiders.
Here you see the bridge with two of its three spiral ramps and one of them from the inside.
They had taken over, weaving their intricate webs on the pillars and constructing their nests in the corners and all across the ceilings.
Cross spiders, with their signature cross-shaped markings, might look intimidating, but they’re mostly harmless to humans.
Despite carrying venom to immobilize their insect prey, their short fangs struggle to pierce human skin. A bite from a cross spider is usually harmless. For adults, it's like a mosquito bite, but for kids, it can cause swelling and itching.
If you or a loved one get bitten, try these quick home remedies: rinse the wound with cold water, apply an ice cube, or press a slice of onion or cucumber on it. For immediate relief outdoors, some swear by pressing cold soil on the bite.
And remember, cross spiders don’t bite on purpose, they’re just scared! If a baby or child is bitten, it's best to consult a doctor to rule out any serious reactions. If you’re an allergy sufferer, it’s wise to be cautious. Rare cases can trigger more severe symptoms like headaches or nausea, so keeping allergy meds handy is a smart move, especially while gardening.
And pets? Don’t worry, cross spider bites are generally not a big deal for dogs or cats either. These spiders are more interested in catching insects than picking fights with anything bigger.
So next time you see one of these long-legged critters, remember: they’re not out to get you. They just want to eat bugs and be left alone. But if you find them too close for comfort just clear away their webs and they’ll move on to a better hunting ground!

Thats beautiful yet creepy. They always scare the hell of me big or small. And yes! You find them everywhere even in places you would not expect them to be.
