Hello, travelers and mountain climbers all around the world. Upon hearing about Atabay Peak, I was a little bit interested as to why it was called Atabay. Atabay in our dialect means a deep well. I thought that there would be a deep well amid the summit or shall I say, a Deep Well at the Peak that brings delight to the residents. In this climb, I'm so excited to find out if I'm right. Wanna join me on this journey? Let's go.
Ascending to Atabay Peak
My mind was intrigued as to what Atabay Peak looked like. My imagination was loaded with different perceptions. From the Marmol Cliff, as we ventured to this summit, we rode our motorcycle. It was a 20-minute ride from the Marmol Cliff.
When we arrived, we parked our motorcycle behind the store situated at the entrance part of the pathway. Actually, we took a shortcut on this climb. Unlike our usual climb where we felt the intense feeling of a true adventure, this one was not truly challenging. However, it was still surprising and suspenseful if what was on the top.
We brought something to eat from the store, our stomachs were rumbling already. It's almost noon when we're about to start our hike. I was thinking it would not be a good idea as the heat of the sun was already irritating. Nowadays, too much exposure to the blazing heat of the sun is not healthy.
When we started ascending, it only took 12 minutes and we were at the peak 😀. But still, we were sweating. It was noon, imagine? We took a one-minute break and ate our lunch.
The rock formations here are pretty amazing. The texture on the upper part of it is a little bit smooth but the other part seems sharp maybe it is because of the sudden change in the weather.
Above this rock standing firmly is this huge tree where we happily stayed as we watched the breathtaking view of the world. Here, I feel so different. I was able to reminisce about those years when I used to climb the tree, playing Cath Me if you can. We enjoyed our stay here while we were chatting with my travel buddies.
This climb would not be complete if I could not feel any thrill, thus, I dared to step on the mountain rocks seen at the top. We used to ascend mountains and staying at the highest part would be my greatest fear. This time, I was trying my best and trying to experience how it felt.
OMG! As I tried crossing to the other edge of the boulders, honestly my legs were trembling, I felt cold and my hands were shaking too. I could not dare to walk on the top with confidence, what I did, I crawled😁. I grasped everything that could be reached by hand to feel secure.
I conquered my fear! And I did it! This was the first time that I was able to surpass this challenging moment in reaching the highest peak and stepping on it. I'm so proud of myself, and so glad about this.
I was standing with pride on the highest portion of the mountain where I was on mixed emotions. I have witnessed the amazing and breathtaking views of the world, I felt the cool breeze from the mountains and I was in great connection with Mother Earth. What an incredible feeling that I got.
Above, I was able to take a photo of my child having a quick exploration at the summit. This was her first time seeing huge rocks above and was having fun as she took a walk confidently above the summit.
I considered it as a great accomplishment when I was on top. I was able to stand here with pride, and it seemed that I was too close to the sky. I was so happy at this moment, obviously, it was seen on my face.
As we descended, the questions that perplexed my mind as to why it is called Atabay were left unanswered. I haven't seen any traces of a deep well not any source of water from the top. It has an ongoing construction, maybe to add more beauty of being on top.
My experience here was truly incredible, and I started to love reaching the highest peak of the mountain. Although I was crawling in going to the most elevated part and was crawling again in descending, I was totally happy. At Atabay Peak, I conquered my greatest fear and in return, I feel that I was powerful in my way.
