A strange capture today!

A totally unexpected present from mother nature!

This is how I walk in nature, always expecting the unexpected and always having my camera loaded and ready.
As they say; "One never knows"
!

They are busy revamping the cricket practice bowling nets and stripping off the old rubber sheets on the floor. The old sheets were thrown on the grass next to the nets. So I decided to bring one of the old rubber sheets home.
As I pulled the sheet towards me, there was an unexpected present below the sheet. 4 snakes!

035.JPG

The tons of rain lately turned the roads into mud pools and we had to scramble with our small car to get through some of the deeper ones.

320.JPG

This is what I saw as I pulled the rubber sheet aside!
Look at the top left corner!

321.JPG

Yep! There he is, the one that I had in my hand.
Of course the two brown and blue bigger ones scattered into the tall grass and I wasn't going to go and look for them 😀

357.JPG

A cute little guy that I have never seen before.
I still cannot find out what kind of snake this is.

354.JPG

So I said a thank you and a farewell to him and put him back.

335.JPG

This one was a lighter color and I put him on the rubber mat in case any of you can recognize what kind of snakes they are!

So yeah, I captured the two little ones physically only to capture them on camera and they are all in their own free world now again. Snakes in our paradise here reminds me of a guy by the name of Adam who had his own encounter with a snake in his paradise, but thankfully my snakes were the peaceful sort 🤣

You're welcome @papilloncharity! Awesome! 👍🙂

That's, for sure, a cute little one, but weren't you afraid if it was poisonous. I once hold a snake in my hand only after confirming its handler that it wasn't poisonous.

Nah! No worries even if I didn't know what kind it is, as on the farm we got to know all of the dangerous ones.
Besides the small ones don't carry a serious bite, it's the bigger ones that one have to be careful of.
So, no problem.

Hahaha, thank you, but he was small!

Only trying to help my friend 😂

That little thing reminds me a lot on something I haven't seen in a while, but I think I am wrong: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anguidae
It looks like a nice baby snake though 😁

Good morning Hannes.

A good try here, but I don't think it's an Anguidae???
I stand corrected, but I am also searching and I think that the result will surprise both of us lol.
Yeah, he was a real cool little guy, but a bit confused in his first interaction with a human being hahaha.
At least now he knows that a human will not hurt him.
I just hope that he doesn't ever meet the wrong kind of human lol.

Cheers and thanks!

Good morning Zac,

I have just a few minutes till I head to my next meeting ;)

When I saw the thumbnail I thought it looked like a "Blindschleiche" as we name it. "Blind" = blind, but it isn't blind and I have no idea why it's called so.

I'm curious what you will find out, but it doesn't look dangerous.

Wish you a great day ☀️

Greetings to you Hannes,

I am rushing now with the replies as we have been as the government has changed the loadshedding today to Stage 4.
Meaning that they now switch us all of 3 times a day. 6am-9:30am. 12noon to 2:30pm. and 8-10:30pm.

Seems like the forces are shortening our situations hahaha.
I haven't had time yet to start a serious search for the snake, but rest assured that I will find him.

Cheers and thanks!

They say they will do it, but will they really do what they say? 🤣

3 times a day? That's a lot - what do the people do who need the electricity? Do you all have electricity generators?

Cheers and !BEER

Hardly ever Hannes, it is normally only sweet talk to calm the angry people.

7.5 hours per day my friend. Only the rich have generators.
The rest of us get along with lamps and candles.

Cheers and I am out of here for now, so it also a Good night to you.

Blessings and thanks!

You have refrigerators and you have other things which need electricity. That's just weird.

Have a good night Zac 😊

Cheers and !BEER

I don't think I would be picking up unfamiliar snakes in SA :D

Hahaha, he didn't have fangs yet my friend.
Gave a nice Colgate smile lol.

I have heard babies can be more deadly because they can't regulate the bite. I will steer clear - but if it is a choice between holding a snake or a spider - I will go snake every time :D

Right, I will show you here how to test if a snake can bite! Especially just for you and it's an old farming trick!

338.JPG

You step gently on the tip of it's tail and if it swings around to strike your shoe, then don't touch it.
If it's a bigger snake, then make sure that you are wearing Wellingtons as they can strike higher on the leg!

Lucky you, I love snakes. I got lucky one time and found one on a park. So, it´s not something I see often.

Thank you and yeah, it was great to see so many together under that sheet.
I see them every now and then in the bushes.

Such a cute little snake but then again IO am not sure my wife would call any snake cute lOL

Hahaha, Marian was also hesitant to touch him, but after I assured her that he can't bite (yet) it was love all over hahaha.

Blessings!

I do have to admit i did chuckle about the (yet) LOL

Hahaha, I am a big tease and she never knows when I am serious hahaha.
But she also knows that I will never give her something that will hurt her.
So it's a matter of blind trust lol.

I have no doubt she trusts you and that is for good reason

Such a lovely surprise! Cute how he kind of curls around your fingers!
My nieces found some garder snakes and wanted to keep them as pets but I said they are better off in the wild and must prepare for winter so we put them back in the rock pile where there mother was.

So great that you guys put them back my friend.
Yes, it was a nice surprise to find them and one can only wonder it that little one thought that his life was over as this strange animal was going to eat him hahaha.

Blessings!
