We just had to come back here.

The last time that we visited this place, I saw something in the dam that I could swear was a fish.
077.jpg

So this time I came prepared for what I wanted to do. If there is a fish in this dam, then by Jove I will get him, even if I had to wait for many hours.

I don't know about you, but when I see something interesting that is not fully revealed to me, then I cannot find rest until I have found out if my suspicion was correct. So yes, today I proved that I am not cranky yet.
I saw a splash last time on our way out that I thought it could only be a fish and this time I decided to investigate.
Come and see if I was correct.

Fortunately I didn't have to wait long, as there was the splash again that I saw the last time.

Does this below look like a fish?
218.JPG

Indeed it was and I had a broad smile. But where one is, there might be others.
237.JPG

So I walked to this side of dam, where the water was covered with a thick sheet of algae.
253.JPG

Prrrr was the sound as the fish breached the algae cover with its back fin.
174.JPG

Now tell me if that's not another fish?
226.JPG

Oops! This African Darter came to see why I was so happy.
223.JPG

I think that it was that Blacksmith Lapwing at the top that sent the Darter to come and see what I was up to :)
217.JPG

So yes, there was not only one fish in the dam, as it was filled with nice big carps.
190.JPG

Finally I was so happy when we left, as my instincts are still in the right order. I got my fish and more than I expected.
002.JPG

Yay, do you also get that delighted feeling when your suspicions are proven to be correct?
It was a great outing and I enjoyed the hunt with my camera. Now I don't want to say too much here, but at times life is really great and it is the simple things in life that are also so intricate and deceiving.
Some say, or it was said that simplicity is genius and I firmly believe in that.

And That's All Friends.

These carp photos remind me of my old days of fishing. Carp is a hell of a catch.

Before I started with photography, my hobby was fishing and I landed some big carps. I did the catch, weigh, photo and release system. Unless a carp was injured, as then it was taken home.
They are certainly great fighters !LOLZ

So beautiful place! It looks like you experienced a sort of "treasure hunt" to find those big (wow, they looks really big!) carps! Awesome! ^_^

Thank you Lady Silvia and it was indeed a treasure hunt.
A long time ago I used to catch them with a fishing rod, but now I catch them with a camera.

Absolutely beautiful. I am in awe. Wow. Just wow.

I am glad that you appreciated the post and thank you.

As seen in freshwater fish, in the rice fields where my father works there are also these types of fish.
It tastes very good to be grilled.

I think that you are referring to the Grass Carp species and we also have them here.
The carps in the post are called fresh water carp.

yes it is true goldfish, many are kept in the fields.
I know this fish because my father also keeps it.

Good news indeed that you also know the fish.

Such a beautiful Lanscape. Great photos

Thank you and glad that you liked the photos.

nice photo, what makes me curious is that the fish must be quite big

Thank you. They are around 3 to 4 kilogram carps and we have carp in the big dams that can weigh up to 30 kilograms.

a fish weighing 30 kg? I can't imagine how big it is!! I've seen a fish weighing 20 kg and the size is quite large.

The actual record weight is 29.8 kilograms and it was set in 2018.

Here is a video of carp fishing in South Africa.

wow, thanks for the video, I saw they didn't catch carp but freshwater monsters LOL

must be very tired and need strong enough energy to be able to catch such that heavy fish, the resistance of the fish when on the fishing line must be very big

My pleasure and yes, those are what we call big carps.

They use special light weight rods and to counter the resistance, one has to slowly play the fish, with the reel clutch on in case the fish breaks into a run. The bait is special maize balls with only one pip on the hook that hangs next to the bait. Carps don't eat, as they suck the bait up with the hook.
A very intricate system.

It is better to quench the curiosity than to think about it for days.
If I were there I would definitely do the same.

Totally agreed as it's the best way to go!

Deeply natural photographs!...That first photo is a marvel, it captures all the essence of the landscape in an overwhelming way... Thank you so much for sharing @papilloncharity friend!

Wow what a beautiful landscape where is this? lol that bird is pretty much well under water was he walking or swimming?

Thank you and this is in the Western Cape Province of South Arica.

That pretty bird is locally known as the Snake bird as only his neck sticks out above the water when he is swimming. And in this case he was indeed swimming.

Here is the bird's full body size.

You did the great job capturing this beautiful nature. Its rare to take picture of those moving fish especially getting the sharp picture of it . Thumb up.

Thank you and all that it takes to get the fish on camera is patience and timing.
Of course the light also plays an important role in the clarity of the picture.
