Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 171

in WE ARE MOVINGlast year

Hey there my Hive friends and followers!

Welcome to the 171st round of my special weekly photo challenge known as Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun :)

I know a lot of photo contests with nature as the main theme were/are/will be hosted by various people on the Hive blockchain but I wanted to come up with something more than just another photo contest where participants would submit their best natural photos. Therefore, I decided to go for quite an unusual concept that I am going to introduce in the following lines.

The aim of the Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun photo challenge is not to make you dig up your photo archives and submit the best pictures of nature that you have ever taken. Instead, I want you guys to go out and appreciate the beauty of our nature right now.

The internet (and the Hive blockchain as well) is flooded with picture perfect shots of landscapes, mountains, forests, beaches etc. taken years ago. But this is not what I want to see in this challenge. I want to see shots that may not be necessarily stunning but they must be fresh, proving that you have just physically spent some time outdoors in the fresh air. But remember that nature comes in many forms. It doesn´t have to be a pristine jungle or a deep remote forest. An urban park, a botanical garden, a little grove on the outskirts of your town - pretty much any place with some trees, plants, rocks, bodies of water or any other natural features would be just as fine ;)

Obviously, there is no way for me to verify whether the photo that you submit in the challenge is really fresh or if it was even taken by you so I am relying on your honesty guys. The prizes for the winners (as described below) are more symbolical than overly motivating so I don´t expect too much fraudulent behavior in this challenge anyway.

I want to keep the rules of this challenge as simple and benevolent as possible so let´s agree on just this:

Only one entry (photo) per person per round.

The photo must be yours and not older than one week.

Add a few words about the photo, at least where and when you took it.

You can start submitting your entries to this round in the comment section below from now until the next round. If you want to create a separate post as your entry, you can do that but please always remember to submit your entry in the form of a comment here in this post as well. I only check the entries submitted here as comments.

Prior to publishing the next round post, I will pick 3 winners, give my full upvote on their entries and feature them in the next round of the challenge. I also give some smaller upvotes on the other entries too so that all participants get rewarded for their engagement.

I usually host the challenge on Thursday but when needed for some reason, I can host it on some other day so better check my blog regularly not to miss out on it ;)

To keep up with you guys, I submit my own fresh natural photo to every round´s post too :) Here is my contribution to start out this round:

A lot of traveling for me in the past couple of days and even though I spent some time in the picturesque Silesian countryside too, I didn´t have enough time to go for some real hikes or at least walks out there in nature unfortunately, so this little random landscape shot must do for this round of the challenge. I took it while walking my mum´s doggie on a lovely sunny afternoon earlier today. The location is a rural part of Silesia near the Kruzberk Dam, Czech Republic.

In the last round, we had 10 participants. After some thorough consideration, I decided to pick these 3 winners:

"A little glass frog"

Photo taken in the low forests of Montalbán, Carabobo, Venezuela on May 31, 2023)... The frogs of the cantrolene genus disappear completely during the dry months, but as soon as the rains return, the newly born and tiny specimens like this one from the photo appear again in the green forest as if by magic.

Wow! I was used to seeing amazing landscape shots from you but this close up is truly fantastic! I love it! Thanks for sharing this unique moment in nature with us :)

This is another sunrise from me 😁
I took it this morning when I crossed the pass.
On the top of the pass, I can see a peaceful sea and the boats are sailing to catch the fishes

Location - Nha Trang City, Vietnam
Device - Google Pixel 3

Stunning scenery, thank you! :)

During the last weekend there was a high tide at the coast of Antofagasta (Chile) and the the sea was rough, with high waves. The photo that I show here was taken at that moment. It is difficult to be precise about the height of the waves.

Wow! Look at the enormous power of the sea! You captured it very nicely, thanks! :)

So this place is called Beech Mountain, it's not really tall, but it has archeological spot on the top being megalithic site of burial and ritual purpose. This place was just discovered last year and excavations are still being conducted. I visited it yesterday tomorrow with my friend and it's located in my hometown called Dąbrowa Górnicza.

Wow, that´s an interesting place! How come it was discovered so late? Btw I thought you were from Katowice and honestly, this is the first time I´m hearing about Dabrowa Gornicza, which is a shame because I thought I knew all Polish cities with at least 100,000 people... Always learning! Thanks Przemek :)

I live in Katowice for the last 5 years, I grown up in Dąbrowa Górnicza, 15km from here. These seem to be just rocks scattered around the hill in the forest, it took visit of somebody with this specific perspective who just said "no way this is natural rock formation", and then archeology people came.

Yeah but still... I think most of these sites have already been discovered in Europe so whenever a new one pops out somewhere, it must be pretty exciting for the archaeologists.

I'm planning to visit local museum to ask about it, I'll share my findings. And who knows how many of these spots is still buried?

That´s right. We lived in Latin America for some time and over there, the ancient sites built by the old Mayas, Aztecs, Inkas etc. are only being discovered these days and many are surely still buried under the jungle, yet to be found in future... Must be a fascinating job :)

Thanks for selecting my entry.

This is my recent entry for the current contest. This picture I took yesterday when I was watering my croton plant and suddenly I saw this cute little nest of bulbul and an egg in it.
Location is India. From my backyard garden.

What a cute surprise :) Thanks for joining us again! Cheers!

It's beautiful 😍

Thanks dear.

My pleasure ❣️🥰

Lovely photo from your walk and also from the winners. Congratulations.

Every year at Pentecost my extended family meet for a long weekend. This time it was Horst- Sevenum. There is not much to do but there is a famous amusement park there, which my children enjoyed. We had a relaxing and fun time being together. This photo is taken from my evening walk.

That looks like an amazing place for a family reunion :) Thanks for keeping my challenge in mind when being there! Cheers!

Thank you @phortun - for sure. Cheers

This tree reminds me of the Christmas tree we usually decorate during Christmas holidays, whenever I see it I get the whole Christmas vibe. This picture was taken on my way to work in Benin city, Edo state.

Looks like a Christmas tree indeed, thanks for sharing this picture with us :)

You are most welcome.

Hello dear friend!... Wow, that is a beautiful landscape and also a lovely weather to take a walk with your mother's dog!... 🐶...

A big round of applause for those lovely pics of @stresskiller, @triplug and @rocksg friend too!

Thank you very much @jlinaresp.

It's crazy to think just how vast the Roman empire was. Those are some beautiful shots! Definitely makes me want to get a good camera of my own!

Thanks for checking out the winning shots from the last round! Well, to take pictures like the one from @stresskiller, you need to have a good camera indeed I guess but pretty often, cool pictures taken just by phones make it to the winning collection as well :)

I'm going to start saving up anyway!

Wow those photographs are so cool, sadly I can't contribute that much beautiful scenery of nature since I'm living here on metro which there's only artificial nature that is located far away from my home.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving this nice feedback for the winners. I hope you will be able to join us in some of the future rounds :) Cheers!

Ouch! Today, I remembered I promised to make an entry and I was really hoping to step out and get a few shots but it didn't happen... I'm sorry, I'll definitely do an entry sometime soon.

Great picks for this week. And your rural part of Silesia looks beautiful too.

Thank you the initiative and for sharing your nature shot with us 🎉🎉

No problem, feel free to join us whenever you feel like ;) Have a nice day!

I hope so, Once a day I will be able to participate in this contest. I don't have a great camera result like these participants. Congrats for the winners and best of luck for the new participants.

No worries, you can always give it a try :) Most of the participants here in this challenge are amateurs, not pros, so everyone has a chance to win here :)

Thank you again and congratulations to the other winners , i think it's only fair if i skip this week :)

So good luck to the new competitors !

It´s hard not to pick your stunning macros as the winners, I admit, but we love your shots and you will always be welcome here ;) Join us whenever you feel like!

i know i'm welcome i just don't want to discourage others

This is really amazing

What exactly?

The Nature pictures

Lovely shots

Glad that you liked them! :)

All these entries are really very good and amazing but second one is my favorite. Enjoy full vote everyone.

Thanks for checking them out!

Most welcome.

Jippy! Things to explore and photos to see, these posts reminds me to get out of the house and search for things 😌. I'm mostly excited about the ladybug one. They are hard to spot and useally fly away easily.

And I believe the landscape shot is still worth looking at! A walk with a doggy and a view like that is still part of the amazing nature we have around us.

Well done to all the participants! Your shots are magnificent 😍
