En dias pasados estuve visitando a mi familia en la ciudad de Caracas y me llamo la atención la cantidad de zamuros que se encontraban muy cerca de los edificios.
Los zamuros se montan en los techos de los edificios donde hasta hace algunos años se podían observar palomas.
Por supuesto la razón de esto es la cantidad de basura que se encuentra en ciertas zonas cercanas a las residencias.
Me llama la atención que siendo los zamuros animales que se alimentan de carne en descomposición, ¿como pueden alimentarse de lo que consiguen los desperdicios?
Revisando la informacion disponible en Internet, encontré la respuesta a esta interrogante y es que ademas de la carne los zamuros también se alimentan de frutas y vegetales en descomposición
El zamuro, es capaz de oler un compuesto gaseoso el Mecaptano etilico, que se produce durante el inicio del proceso de descomposición animal y de esta manera se orienta. Una perfecta adaptación de la naturaleza.
También me causo extrañeza que los zamuros que me encontraba en la calle no parecían asustarse ante la presencia de las personas y en una oportunidad estaba este bello ejemplar, parado en la acera. No se si es que no podia volar o si sentia curiosidad por acercarse a las personas. Dias despues estaba parado en la cerca de los jardines y luego no se vio mas.
Yo creo que los seres humanos estamos provocando cambios en el comportamiento de otras especies. El zamuro cumple como cualquier otra especie, un rol importante dentro del equilibrio ecológico y siendo un animal gregario, es decir que vive en grupos, las poblaciones pudieran estarse desplazando hacia las zonas urbanas donde consiguen alimento y quizás aumentando de esta manera el numero de individuos.
Estas son algunas reflexiones personales de esta situación que he venido observando, y que pudieran de alguna manera influir en el ambiente. De hecho el zamuro estaría realizando una función muy importante al eliminar la materia en descomposición que contamina el ambiente

I don't know if it was because it couldn't fly or if it was curious to approach people. A few days later it was standing on the fence of the gardens and then it was not seen anymore.
I believe that humans are causing changes in the behavior of other species. The vulture, like any other species, plays an important role in the ecological balance and being a gregarious animal, that is to say that it lives in groups, the populations could be moving towards urban areas where they get food and perhaps increasing in this way the number of individuals.
These are some personal reflections of this situation that I have been observing, and that could somehow influence the environment.In fact, the vulture would be performing a very important function by eliminating the decomposing matter that pollutes the environment.
