Isn't this alarming ?
Just when I was thinking, my plants will now grow better and we will see flowers soon, this news of Cyclone Jawad came in. I usually do not watch TV or news but my mother always watches news and she did not make me sit in peace. She wanted me to collect all the fruits from trees - the reason being, at least it will make the tree light weight and thus will save the tree. We are 60 km away from the coast and initially the news was like the wind speed would be very high in the range of 100 - 150 km, and it can turn into a disaster. Having experienced so many cyclones, we always try to take precautions, but I am surprised, no one really worries about why so frequently we are getting them. Isn't there a reason for it ? In my entire life, this is the year, where I have seen maximum number of low pressure situations. The winter has never been like this.
This one particular tree was having it's first fruit and few days back I brought couple of them, as they were ripen showing yellow. These desi breeds are tastier than the hybrid ones. The only problem with these is that the trees gets so big that, its literally difficult to get them. I am thinking to plant some of these near the house, so that, I will get them from the roof. Also planning to plant the dwarf hybrid ones. I am a big fan of Papaya - I like to eat them everyday - makes digestive system better.
There was another tree, which was not reachable - I had to climb through the roof with much difficulty to get those Papayas.
We have several trees in the backwards, but before we see and get them, the big monitor lizards take care of them - yes, we have almost every species surrounding us - they are so big that ( I would imagine may be around more than 10 kg), one can get scared. A lady staying on rent heard some noise from their movements in the night and thought a ghost is there. After experiencing it few times, she called her husband to put lights to only discover these big monitor lizard. I have tried to capture them on lens, but they run quite fast when they see us or hear our foot steps.
The bats let us know that our apple berries are ready to eat. I posted about it recently, little did I know, there are ripen ones inside. But they got some and we found out remaining of few apple berries in our surroundings, so Mom wanted me to go and check. Here is our first yield - there must be a lot inside, I will go and collect more after this weather clears. Someone was asking me how to eat them - we just eat them raw directly - few from the tree itself - yes they are so tempting. I cut them here to show how it looks inside.
And I will not need to buy these papayas for few days - if you do not know, then wrapping them in newspapers ripens them fast - they need hot climate and in winter, wrapping few newspapers will do the trick.
Mom made all the preparations - she has prepared batters of several types only to know few hours back that the cyclone has weakened - thanks to the accurate prediction of the met department. But I really like the way she thinks at this age of 71 - necessity has taught her everything in childhood and it won't change forever. We have some raw bananas growing very high and she even made me cut bamboos to give them support. She asked a thin guy staying on rent to cut those bananas - a fun about which I will do my next post.

Cyclone Jawad not only creating issues for people of your region....it is now a point of concern for neighboring state. We are already alarmed of its arrival Ana people ate in panic. Here we have our paddys spread in fields and if the the passing by rain hit our area, it will be a great loss to farmers... hope this time it won't cause much damages and all goes well....
This year, It has affected all most every area destroying everything - I am sure, prices are going to shoot a lot. What hurts me is that, nobody tries to even analyze why we are seeing so many low pressure situations so frequently.
How many fruits have you collected. Excellent.
I take this opportunity to wish you a splendid weekendHello dear friend @sanjeevm good afternoon Nature is becoming more aggressive, although it is due to the wrong actions of some people. I regret that your town is in the focus of a cyclone, although I must admit that your mother has reason, harvesting the fruits will make the trees have less weight, and less vulnerable
Ya, they will serve me for next few days.
Your mother's idea is not bad. Especially for papaya trees, it is very risky for the tree to have yield during natural calamities. Many of our papaya trees were uprooted and tilted due to natural disasters.
Papita ke to anginat fayde hai ....❤❤❤
This fruit is very much helpul to cure many diseases🌺❤
Nature has given us everything - we are the culprits not to recognize them and instead go for artificial foods.
Your effort brings more fruit harvest finally. Due to the cyclone, it was good decision collected fruits from the trees. It would be reduce damages to the houses. Papaya trees not much stronger.
According my father, we also follow the same trick for ripe papaya fruits. You have collected so much fruits from the garden. So no need to by them sooner from the market.
Ya, at least it will serve me a week.
Papaya I like to plant different fruit plants at home So that fruit is available in every season
Let's keep working and supporting each other to grow at Hive!...Hello @sanjeevm, I hope the storm does not affect you too much, meanwhile enjoy such delicious fruits.
Now that you mention papaya, I don't know why there are so many people who dislike it, in my opinion it is delicious, I always drink it in juices! It has many benefits, I think the cyclone issue is a serious issue, there can be many incidents if you don't take the proper precautions.
Well some people just don't like some flavors - even my mom does not eat papaya curry or fry - she is a bit allergic.
Good harvest for a bad reason, i hope the natural disasters dont hit as often but contamination and earth lets me no aval on it...
