I was always an inveterate adventurer, and I was nostalgic for walking and retracing my steps, so I decided to visit the wonderful mountains of the Sierra de los Órganos (province of Pinar del Río, in Cuba). One of the most visited sites by nature lovers visiting our island.

In the month of August, the mountain weather was cool and pleasant, but sweat was running down my forehead. I didn't mind, I am always ready to enjoy new experiences, and it was worth it, what a surprise to see the diversity of plants and trees that adorned the slopes of these mountains. There were tree ferns, vibrantly colored orchids and palms so tall they seemed to touch the sky. One of the group members, a lover and connoisseur of botany, taught us to identify some species, but I decided to call each plant by a funny name. So, I named the "jumping flower", the "playful baby pine", and the "dancing moss"...

The most exciting part was yet to come. While walking along a trail, we discovered a deliriously delicious river. Without a second thought we jumped in to swim and enjoy the refreshing water, between pirouettes and somersaults, I encouraged my companions to take a good dip to wash away the dust of the trail. From a distance, the scenery is beautiful, but when you walk several kilometers up and down hills, the heat can become exhausting. And we are lucky to live in a land where there are no poisonous animals or large predators that could endanger our lives. I don't know if in distant times this river was home to some species of crocodile. I promise to investigate.

There were moments of calm and contemplation when we stopped at various viewpoints to admire the beauty of the landscapes. From the top of the mountains, to see how the valleys stretched out before our eyes, covered with vegetation and among this, small meandering rivers. The sun reflected on the leaves of the vegetation as if they were dots of green silver, a dazzling spectacle.

During the journey, we had the opportunity to meet several people living in small communities in the mountains. Very humble and hospitable people, sharing stories, traditional foods and songs of repentistas in tenths (one of the treasures of our culture). I felt welcomed and very grateful for the affection of these people, who enjoy the luxury of living in perfect harmony with the nature that surrounds them.

I think I am ready to move to such a place. I wonder if you live in the city or in nature, and I would love to know how you feel about it, would you go to live in the middle of the mountains, why, if you are a country dweller, would you abandon a natural environment to live in the city?

Well, you know me. You know I would gladly go to live right there. In fact Abelito and I have thought about it. hahaha
The pictures are beautiful.😍

The Cecilia commune would be the name. Jessy says she came with us. What a joy, a commune to live in the wild!!! Happiness !!!!

I'm in charge of the garden and the bees, Jessy is the social communicator and you do yoga and meditation, oh and the cooking.jajajaja

Ahhhh...everything already planned!!!!💃💥💚💚💚

I love it, so beautiful landscape , that was very nice adventure Sari, I really enjoy spending time on nature and go on this kind of trips to scape of the City crazy mess but I don't think I could live in some place like this full time 😅😅 I'm more city boy , thanks for sharing this beauty with us 🤗

Yes, at your age I couldn't think about leaving the city no matter how much I liked the forests, I admit it. But now I see it as something possible and desirable. Cities don't offer me many benefits anymore, I'm just here for a practical issue. In Cuba it is much more complicated to live in a place like this, transportation, energy, communication. If these things were more affordable, I would already be living in the middle of one of those mountains. 💚💚💚

Dear, how beautiful your post is, it has been a pleasure to read you, being in direct contact with mom Natura is a delight. I can tell you honestly, I adore those encounters with nature and every time I go to it it welcomes me and protects me with that infinite mantle that I am so grateful for. But I'm from the city and despite feeling so comfortable in a natural environment, I'm terrified at night in a place like this, because I'm afraid of those innocent creatures that are insects, I can't help it 🤭🤭, I have to tell the truth I'm sorry 😔, for this reason I wouldn't go to live in a place like that despite its incredible benefits. Wonderful photos ❤️

hahahaha...innocent creatures usually sting hard... I take care of myself. The truth is that I am so happy in the middle of the forest that those inconveniences seem almost nothing to me. At some point in the not too distant future I will find a place in the mountains, a small paradise to enjoy with friends and family. Thank you for your beautiful comment. 💚💚💚

Well when you achieve that goal you invite me, but you know for the day 🤭🤭

Me iría sin pensarlo dos veces, casi vivo en un lugar así, solo me falta el río y las montañas. Las fotos estas espectaculares 😍

With a river of fresh waters, views and mountain temperatures, there is no paradise that compares. We're leaving!!!!😘😘😘💚💚💚

Preciosos 😍💕 paisajes, muy hermoso todo , bien bello..

El paraíso...
Saludos !!!

I used to like the city better, now I feel I would be better off with more contact with nature. Beautiful photos of that place, full of green and purity.

Yes, there comes a time in life when we stop enjoying so many people around us and so much speed. We need to connect with something deep and that is easier to find in a forest.

My greetings from Havana 🙏💚💚💚

What a beautiful place you have visited, and how good it is that there are no poisonous species, nor crocodiles that can attack them while swimming in the river.
Because I like nature, I think I wouldn't have any problem living in a place like that.
May you enjoy these nature environments very much.Hello dear friend @saraleo good morning

Thank you so much !!!

Cuba is a paradise for camping, there is never any danger of frostbite or dangerous animals. I love discovering beautiful areas of my island to share it. Greetings from Havana!!!🙏💚💚💚

Yes, I just need internet (to work) and transport to be able to travel to other places, to work as well. Because the truth my friend... I only know how to do what I know how to do. Even if I enjoy nature as much as you do.

Another thing... those cool names you have given to the plants, you should make a catalogue that is yours alone. And that maybe people like me, would be willing to have it as a reference.

Yes...😁 I'm classifying, it's because I would like to know the names of all the plants and their properties, so if I don't know I'll make them up.

Maybe not full time, but to live long periods of time I will look for a cabin in one of those well-lit forests on the hills. I've been wanting it for a long time 🌄👏👏👏💥💚💚💚

@saraleo Pinar tiene lugares bellos, nada mejor para relajar que el contacto con la naturaleza. Las fotos están preciosas. Saludos

Thank you very much, the magic of these places will enchant you forever. Greetings!!!!💚💚💚

Amazing story. I really love Pinar. Been there several times and it's always a new and wonderful experience. Did you guys practice yoga up there. I saw some yoga mats. Thank you for sharing, it's always good to read people with the same interest. That helps me plan ... ❤️

Si, siempre practicamos. Soy instructora de yoga. De hecho, todo el grupo éramos instructores. Fue lindo !!!! Gracias y un abrazo !!!

Qué bien... Yo practico yoga varias veces a la semana. Me encanta.

Buenísimo !!! Estaremos compartiendo por acá cositas de yoga y experiencias !!!🙏

Would be great to live in nature away from the city, the question would be what could be the job one can do there to sustain oneself
It’s great when one can find the balance ;)
Ps: great location, I’m sure you had an enjoyable time

Initiative and imagination well used can provide solutions to this question; rural tourism and art, digital nomad if there is a good connection, culinary experiences with local products and the garden itself. Forest bathing and meditation, and a long etc. that, mixed with self-consumption and care for the environment, can become a great community project. Greetings !!!!
